    Class Templates / Kits

I think these are a great idea, and I'd like to see more! I would allow the sorcerer's spontaneous casting to allow the caster to trade a daily for another daily as well - after all, the sorcerer is giving up the flexibility of the spellbook.

    Tomarken: A Drug

Given the drug is so cheap (I think it should cost ten times that amount), I think it's dangerous to allow multiple doses. That said, I think the bonus should be fairly substantial, since you are flirting with addiction. I would like it to be expensive, allow a few doses but not unlimited...

    Tomarken: A Drug

Giving a bonus (or penalties, with the addiction) to ability scores is a bad idea, because it requires all sorts of confusing and complicated recalculations. Use bonuses to attacks, defences and skills instead. Do the bonuses from multiple doses stack?

One Bad Egg: "Hatching the Best Stuff for D&D"

Are you going to reflavour the race so it's not animalistic, or have you decided you will have animals with intelligence in your D&D? I ask only because I'm interested in whether the pdf changed how you play your game, or if you're just changing the presentation.

    Balancing a Large Race

Instead of applying a negative (which will hit some characters hard and others not at all), why not only give one +2 to an ability score? I recommend not giving Strength: that will help even out the added damage die. Give the reach instead of the power that most races get.

    Porting SWd20 stuff to 3.x?

In my opinion, there is no point. The rogue is better than the scoundrel or fringer, the scout (Complete Adventurer) is better than the scout. The tech specialist and soldier are unnecessary. Only the noble really fills a niche, and even then the Dragonlance noble or Miniatures Handbook marshall...

What is a 'God' in D&D?

I'd say the question is: Does the entity grant a unique ability to its cleric and paladin followers? If yes, it's a god. If not, it's not. That might not help, but I think it's a reasonable benchmark. If the object of worship has enough worshippers that you can be bothered designing a Channel...

    30th level quickplay characters

I like it a lot, but if you do make changes please make the recharge entries more visible. I don't want to trawl through dozens of words looking for "recharge" at the end of every monster's turn. Thanks.

So how many different game systems have you tried?

Dungeons and Dragons, Fourth Edition. Dungeons and Dragons, Third Edition. In a Wicked Age. ... in Spaaace! That's it, but people are dying to play IAWA again, and I want to run Houses of the Blooded, Rules Cyclopedia, Spirit of the Century and Reign.

    D&D 4E Harry Potter 4e

I respectfully disagree. I suggest someone mocks up one build of one class, with just enough low-level powers and no more. Then we can debate the direction of the class - e.g. would we prefer it to be skills-based, do we want power recharges, should potions be covered like alchemy, etc. I think...

4e Has Less Raw Content: Fact!

I'm not Wizard, but what I've found from my read-through of the 4E MM alongside the 3.0 MM is the 3.0 MM has a lot of wasted space with a few absolute gems that the 4E MM is lacking. Aboleths "know many ancient and terrible secrets, for they inherit their parents' knowledge at birth and...

    New Classes and Others

In a way, I feel that cards, dice and coins should be implements. Using them as weapons is absurd. And yet, they are so well thought out (I don't know about balanced) that they could be a lot of fun to use. One small error: "Drawing a Joker allows you to choose your damage dice from the...

4e Has Less Raw Content: Fact!

I see your point, but by the time my players reached 8th or 9th level, I would have the MM II or a 3rd-party monster book. I would have preferred the MM I to focus on the hieroic tier, MM II on the paragon tier, and MM III on the epic tier, with each MM having some monsters for the other tier.

4e Has Less Raw Content: Fact!

I'm not sure about 4E MM having less monsters all up, but it certainly has less low-level monsters, and I agree that's a big problem. Half the monsters in the 3.0 MM are level 5 or lower, while less than a quarter are in the 4E MM. They could easily have trimmed the paragon tier, which seems to...

    4th Edition Swashbuckling!

I too have only skimmed it, but your naval combat looks well-thought-out: I really like the use of symbols to show which weapon can be used in what direction. One question: do the vehicle statblocks follow the Adventurer's Vault model?

    Ammunition Woes

I'm thinking of something fairly similar. Roll a natural 1 on a ranged attack roll, exhaust one quiver (which would have an average of 20 arrows in it). No need for bookkeeping, nice and simple.

D&D 4E Revisiting an old question: 4E Liker - anything you worry about?

It doesn't do a whole lot, but it does something. I would've liked Intelligence to add to Initiative instead of Dexterity - reflectinig your mental ability to figure out the situation. After all, after the first round initiative doesn't have much to do with your reflexes. I don't think either...

    Community Reference Document?

It seems the biggest barrier stopping publishers producing 4E adventures under the OGL is a lack of monsters and traps. Given the number of fans churning out 4E monsters on these very forums, would it make sense for a group to produce a single stat block format (similar but not identical to...
