D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone else suffers from setting paralysis?

We're in Arizona, but I sometimes GM partially in French when I'm drunk (state conditioned learning for the win). I'm lucky to have some of the same players from back in 1980.

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone else suffers from setting paralysis?

I have this problem with all published settings except for ... Eberron: It's too interesting for me to lose interest in. Greyhawk: Folio version provides enough detail for me to run games there without squashing my creativity with too much detail. I am lucky that my players become very...

D&D 5E (2014) Remove feats and replace as magic items

If I had to choose, I would rather replace all magic items with feats than vice versa, but in the ideal world I prefer not to do either.

D&D 5E (2014) WotC Shares Theros Table of Contents

I don't buy boxed sets because I hate boxed sets. Give me books with bindings that fit neatly on my shelves, not boxes. Back in the day, I used to hole punch all the booklets in the box and put them in binders. Not really a book, but about 1,000,000,000,000% better than a boxed set in my opinion.

D&D 5E (2014) WotC Shares Theros Table of Contents

Not all longtime fans. I started with OD&D white box back in 1978 and have never taken a hiatus from playing. I have some of the same players from back then. And every single one of us would rather see all the MTG settings come out before a single rehash of old settings*. I just don't come onto...

D&D 5E (2014) Is the new setting Icewind Dale?

For what it's worth, I've always used the term setting to refer to a region within a world. In my current world of Novannis, I run three settings for different groups of characters. Atrya Bay Setting (far north, with my own adaption of classic Blackmoor) Freeeport/Isle of Dread Setting...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Last Edition of D&D?

I said that I don't tell players no except in extreme situations. If someone wanted to dip into wizard at a later point, I would probably sit down with the player and work out a modification to the backstory. Maybe they had studied wizardry but never finished their schooling. Now they've decided...

    D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk Sub-Classes

I didn't say that. The gender maximum argument is in a second section that begins, "I've even seen ...." Twice I've walked away from threads because I couldn't keep reading without getting myself a warning from the moderators. Neither do I, so we're in agreement. But Greyhawk has always been a...

D&D 5E (2014) Which (Official) Adventures Have You Completed

I've played through Princes of the Apocalypse, Curse of Strahd, and Dragonheist. I don't run published adventures without deconstructing them and completely rewriting them. I never run an adventure where characters go from low level to retirement in a short period (summer vacation adventuring...

WotC Which releases do you own?

I wasn't unhappy with Acquisitions Inc. once I bought it. There are some good things in the book including some NPCs written up in the back. If I hadn't found it for half price, I probably wouldn't have bought it even though it would have been the only 5e book I didn't have. I have a visceral...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Last Edition of D&D?

I like sub-classes, especially sub-classes that steal a few minor features from other classes. I dislike multiclassing. I dislike it a lot. It was one of those things I thought was cool about 3e until I realized just how much I dislike it*. That said, I don't try to ban it in my games. I...

    D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk Sub-Classes

Too many Greyhawk fans have vociferously expressed their opinion that any Greyhawk product must have ... no races that weren't in that setting back in 1e/2e edition no classes that weren't in that setting back in 1e/2e codified rules for racial hatred between NPCs an emphasis on...

D&D 5E (2014) In your Years of Gaming, How many Psionic Characters did you See played

My longest chronicle for the 3.5 era took place in the Forgotten Realms (beginning in Sembia). The chronicle ran from level 1 through 17 and lasted for five game years. The overall storyline involved an attempt to awaken the lost Jhaamdathan god Auppensor by retrieving psionic orbs he had...

    D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk Sub-Classes

The fact that some Greyhawk fans insist that nothing can be in Greyhawk that wasn't included in Gary Gygax's original rules is why I predict that we will never have a published Greyhawk setting.

    D&D 5E (2014) Tired of doing WotC's job

In my game we use the standard that 1 cp = $1. If someone wants something not on the equipment list, we just pull a price based on the real world. It works for us.

WotC What's your dream release schedule?

I like new subclasses a lot, if they serve to provide new flavor for a class. I like how D&D 5e introduces new alternatives that you choose instead of options already in the game rather than new features that add on to what characters already have (the big UA on class features being the notable...

D&D 5E (2014) The case for (and against) a new Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting book

All this discussion about TOA as a setting book has made me go back and read that portion of the book. (I'd never read it before, since I was playing it until a few months ago.) If I wanted to run a game set in Chult, I would find it more than sufficient for that purpose. Of course, I run...

WotC What's your dream release schedule?

I rarely run anything but homebrew, although I am currently running a Greyhawk game and have run Eberron in the past. I found Ravnica to extremely interesting as a setting.

    D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk Sub-Classes

Most of the sub-classes I'm seeing listed in this thread feel more like they should be factions to me.

WotC What's your dream release schedule?

Ravnica is probably the book I steal the most from. It was one of the best RPG purchases I've made. I doubt I will use Darksun or Planescape half as much (unless the psionics rules are in Darksun, in which case we'll use the heck out if it even though I have nothing but disdain for the setting.)
