    True20 vs Savage Worlds?

Er, yes, I did miss that section. And I don't have the bestiary. <Emily Litella> Never mind </Emily Litella> That's a good point. It certainly would get easier as you become more familiar with True20, but, assuming the same level of familiarity, SW would be easier, if only because SW...

    True20 vs Savage Worlds?

They both have strenths and weaknesses compared to each other. Magic System: True20's power system is flavorful and flexible, while SW's power system, in a word, stinks. SW has one the most boring and uninspiring magic systems I've ever seen. The Deadlands setting improves on it with a bunch...

d20 Star Wars Saga Edition news from Gen Con?

No, but I have seen the Star Wars Christmas Special, which has the same effect. *twitches*

d20 Star Wars Saga Edition news from Gen Con?

And the same goes for the Holiday Special, where Chewbacca's dad Itchy had virtual reality sex with Jefferson Starship, and Bea Arthur is a bartender in Tattooine.

d20 Star Wars Saga Edition news from Gen Con?

There has been no indication whatsoever that crafting would be removed from the game, so why are you worried? In fact, Moridin and the seminar people all concurred that the same basic options would be in place, that they weren't "dumbing down" the game. People need to calm down and stop...

D&D 4E When would you actually want 4E?

When it's done. I'm in no hurry for it, but I'm definitely starting to notice 3e's flaws, so I'm not adverse to it either. I just hope that it's more than the collection of tweaks and errata that 3.5 was, addressing the problems with high-level play, imbalance between magic and mundane...

What does XP mean to you?

Years ago, some friends and I had the idea of making XP a genuine, in-game measure of the power contained within powerful beings. Characters didn't improve much by practice or trial and error, but by seeking out beings that had innate power, killing them, and absorbing their power...

    Role Playing products that failed

The d20 version had surprisingly detailed expansion rules for Rope Use, including rules for using improvised objects as ropes. The Godot Monster Manual was also a flop. Do we really need to know how many hit dice Ennui has, or how often Despair can use its breath weapon? Plus the whole book...

    Anyone picked up True Sorcery?

Normally the 'chance of failing' comes from the spell's saving throw. If a spell requires a spellcasting roll <i>and</i> still has a saving throw, then there's twice the chance of failing.

    Anyone picked up True Sorcery?

True20 doesn't have damage dice. ;) All damage is a DC for the target's toughness save. I'm just wondering how you calculate the toughness save DC for true sorcery spells.

    Anyone picked up True Sorcery?

I'm curious about the True20 conversion, but am trying to hold off until the print book comes out. Does it have a new role for True Sorcery spellcasters, or the adept role from the core book? How does damage work? Is it +5 spell DC / +1 damage DC, or something like that?

    Good Superhero-Game?

He he he. Did I mention that there are still several old ones slumbering beneath the school? Only one was freed (and then tied into a pretzel and hurled 500 miles into the sky by Joseirus). Athena's far too goody-goody to be teaching at the Empire Valley Institute of Learning. The players...

    Good Superhero-Game?

Ha! Don't tempt me. There's enough godly weirdness going on, what with lovecrafting elder gods buried under the school, and their history teacher being Ares, Greek god of war and slaughter. (He's big on the gruesome violent battles aspects of history, and especially disliked the backtalk from...

    Good Superhero-Game?

Hosiris is indeed quite a piece of work. In every single session since he joined the game I've had to NPC at least one "you're the what?" scene. (Except for that one punk who replied "yeah, that's what I thought" when Hosiris said what he was.)

    Good Superhero-Game?

I also recommend M&M2e, and I've played pretty much all of them. I've found M&M to be more flexible in practice than Hero, and is several orders of magnitude simpler and faster in play, without losing any of the rich options for character actions. It's also very easy to GM. I'm the GM of...

    Sell me on Arcana Evolved.

There's also a magic item in AE that gives a spellcaster access to an exotic spell. They're called Amulets of Spell Knowledge, or something to that effect. They cost spell level squared x 1000, which makes them rather cheap for low level spells.

    savage worlds

I've played it a bit, and it's quite fun, especially for high-action duels and fights with lots of opponents. Its basic system is quite straightforward, and requires little or no bookkeeping. In some ways its considerably less tactical than D&D, in that it has no AOOs and doesn't require fine...

What do you have on you at the moment?

Currently? Old jeans, a tshirt, underwear and socks. That's it. If I'm allowed to grab my bag next to me, I'd at least have a swiss army knife, some pens, some useless paper (class notes and a few law cases), and the Eberron Campaign Setting. Though with my luck, I'd be sent to Dark Sun and...
