Helm of Seven Deaths as artifact

We're discussing some concordance ideas, but nothing's concrete yet. PS

    Hole in the Universe

Thanks for the input Ferghis. The range should be Close Burst 10. The purpose of the secondary attack is to spread the power to other PCs, so it is permanent. The goal there is that you want to spread the power to other PCs, so you want to make the secondary attack, but you don't really want...

Helm of Seven Deaths as artifact

One of my players' PC has the Helm of Seven Deaths. It's very thematically appropriate, because they are trying to resurrect a lost god by stopping souls headed to the afterlife and diverting them to their new god. But it's powers aren't really cool enough. I've rebuilt it as an artifact. Lemme...

    Clearing the Future Church

The group goes looking for a good home base. They decide to scope out Fallen, with the idea that if no one else wants to live there, they won't be bothered. But there are insane homeless people about. They come in waves and keep attacking. After a couple rounds of tossing bodies off of ledges...

    Establish the Restaurant and Church

The group has found 2 key locations in Sharn - a restaurant in the Bazaar that marks the place the Forgotten One was standing when the prison closed on him, and a spire of the Fallen Tower (in Fallen) where their comrades died and were the first souls fed to the alternate afterlife of the...

    Finding the Holy Place

The group continues to follow Tuktuk's visions around the city. Up, down, north, south . . . eventually they end up in the Bazaar in Middle Dura. As Tuktuk finally finds the place, he is struck dumb and falls down on the floatstone built into the flooring of this level of the towers. This stone...

    D&D 4E Tyrannosaurus Rex in 4e?

(Psi)SeveredHead, why is the escape DC so low? Isn't escaping a grab normally vs Fort or Reflex? Both of those are significantly higher than the escape DC. PS

    D&D 4E Late to the D&D 4E Bandwagon - First Impressions

He was 9th level, so I think that's 3d10, right? The player is the least proficient with the rules in the group (obviously, forgetting 1d8 every attack is . . . suboptimal? :D), and the assassin takes a lot more work than the Thief. We actually have a whole party worth of characters that...

    D&D 4E Late to the D&D 4E Bandwagon - First Impressions

It does indeed look like the player forgot the Attack Finesse ability. None of the poisons he chose allowed every turn damage. It looks like he could have been doing 2d8+12 per turn (another +4 if he had the other poison). Now he does 3d8 + 11 per turn, +2d6 twice a fight. PS

    Hole in the Universe

I gave this power to one of my players. He's a warpriest of a lost Chthuluesque god. It's nicely formatted into an Excel sheet, and looks a bit crappy here. Hole in the Universe Keywords: Arcane, Teleport Minor ACTION RANGE 10 Burst Target 2 squares within burst Encounter Power You...

    Sharn!

We decided to shake things up after The Wedding. We discussed a few ideas and chose Sharn as the new basis for the campaign. Tuktuk decided to take a chunk of the new faithful to Sharn. Grandmother decided to keep an eye on him, since he's a strange new power block in her clan. So she sent her...

    D&D 4E New Year, New 4e

Breaking a grab is either Athletics vs Fort or Acrobatics vs Ref. Isn't there a Bluff vs Will somewhere? IMC I've given one PC a power that has a Diplomacy vs Will attack.

    The Wedding

The actual wedding took an entire session. The ceremony itself was a skill challenge, then a Kesh Sharaat hero and his stalwart friends kidnapped the bride and tried to kill the wedding party from the ceremony. Tuktuk's insertion of heretical nonsense into the wedding ritual influenced the...

How to guard a teleportation circle

My players are closing in on Paragon, and they're going to have to start worrying about teleportation circles. I like the idea that you basically can't guard them, nor can you see who's coming before they arrive. It makes them inherently dangerous and risky to put in your "castle." Our game is...

    D&D 4E Late to the D&D 4E Bandwagon - First Impressions

Yes, it's the HoS one. It's striker bonus damage is very limited. It can do good damage with a poison, but those are dailies. It get a bonus batch of d10s (# dependent on level), but that is an encounter power. So once per encounter, or a couple times a day it deals significant damage, and all...

Kickstarter My Mutants and Masterminds game has spawned a kickstarter project!

this is pretty cool, even if the connection to me is fairly tangential. I used to run an M&M game. Then Piratecat took it over. At some point he invited Brendan, who made a character that inspired him to write a book, which he is now trying to publish...

    D&D 4E Late to the D&D 4E Bandwagon - First Impressions

My game has a PHB wizard, a runepriest, a ranger|cleric hybrid, a battlemind, a thief, a warpriest, and a cavalier|binder warlock hybrid. 3 AEDU classes, 1 AEDU hybrid, 2 Essentials classes, 1 Essentials hybrid. They all seem to work fine together. Since we replaced the Essentials Assassin with...

    Help with Maths?

If you keep exactly the same attack bonus, and just add the damage dice together, you will get exactly the same average damage. Your round by round damage will be much more swingy tho. If that matters you need to move away from just expected damage. In that case, increase the attack bonus a bit...
