So how long have YOU been playing D&D?

    Same here, minus the treehouse.

    I am drunk with power!!!

"Do you wanna see something really scary?" This scene scared the willies out of me when I was a kid. A few years later I got the movie (You'll have to guess which one) out on video and watched it again and it still scared the willies out of me. So I played it back frame by frame, so that I...

MONSTER MANUAL 4: More Monsters/Less Fluff or Vice Versa?

Yeah, those lazy GM's make me sick. The way they build those stories, write up NPC's and adjust the monsters they should be ashamed of themeselves. And don't get me started on the way they lounge away developing stories, building dungeons, reading new rules, adjudicating ... Ahhhh, I'm too...

Is your D&D campaign a game or a story?

Done. I guess I thought I'd give you the right of reply. Good

    I am drunk with power!!!

Some would argue that Edmund wasn't a villain, either. "Madam, the people have no bread" "Let them eat cake!" Oh, and of course, the classic villainous monologue: "Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade...

Is your D&D campaign a game or a story?

Exactly, it aint nice, is it, but there was little in the original thread that was vehement until you raised the stakes, so if you don't like the taste of what you dish out try keeping it nice next time. But yes, talking past each other is pretty pointless.

Is your D&D campaign a game or a story?

Threads like this one have the potential to be a good thread, but often fail when someone insists on describing the opinions of others bull**** or what have you. Even if the smileys were replacing 'dust', I don't think it's a very respectful way to address someone else's argument, particularly...

What did we do before feats, skills, and prestige classes?

    Very patient, in my case.

What did we do before feats, skills, and prestige classes?

But still a limited number of classes. Cops or Robbers. Cowboys or Indians* :p *with the girl next door needing rescue, perhaps - but that was probably an expansion set.

What did we do before feats, skills, and prestige classes?

We still use our imagination today, but in different ways. Beforehand we explored the possibilities of the characters within the confines of the class structure. We could be as imaginative as we liked, within the few classes that there were. It was as if we strode an infinite, but straight...

Help needed for high level dungeon...

Thanks for the advice guys, Wycen, I will see if I can track down Crypt of the Iron Heretics, the glyph idea sounds interesting. Dei, I have already written up some descriptions of some of the traps being disabled, and in the process came up with some nifty snares that the players will have to...

Do you DM sitting or standing?

Both for me, but most of the time on my feet. I tend to physicalize a lot, especially when the BBEG's begin posturing. Combats draw me back to the gaming table, but I still jump up to physicalize the wild swings and dramatic moments.

Help needed for high level dungeon...

Thanks Mark, I will check it out. :) That was really helpful, Dei. Thanks. I will respond to your post further, and to everyone's input soon, but I have to run out the door in a minute.

Help needed for high level dungeon...

Thanks for that, guys. I do have pretty good idea of the background of the dungeon Stone Angel, but I didn't want to put too many details about it in the initial post for fear of scaring people away. (Short and sweet usually get's more responses, I find.) This all get's complicated, but not...

Help needed for high level dungeon...

Hi everyone, I need a little help designing a high level (16th?) 'dungeon'. It's a prison of sorts for a powerful demon and it has laid deep beneath the city for nigh on a thousand years. No one has ever come across it, or even heard of it, because it is psychically warded to make people more...

Alignment -- How 'good' is LG anyway?

I tend to agree with Shemeska, except to query if 'neutrality' in D&D is considered a alignment in of itself one which seeks a balance between Chaos and Law, and that it is not necessarily an indication of the purity of Good and Evil that accompanies it.

Greater Wolfwere NPC with Class levels. How do I work out a 'fair' CR?

Wolfwere. not werewolf Actually he's a Greater Wolfwere, which aren't lycanthropes, apparently. It has DR 15 versus Cold steel and have a regeneration of 10, which I guess is 10 hitpoints a round. Not quite all your hitpoints back at the end of the round, but still pretty chunky. Thanks for...

Greater Wolfwere NPC with Class levels. How do I work out a 'fair' CR?

Thanks. I had looked through the MM but I couldn't find it - I'll check again tonight. (Was it in the 3.0 MM?) Tell me about it! - my browser seized up totally. I'm glad I wasn't buying something!
