HUGE SCOOP! Chris Perkins confirms my suspicions on unlimited Rituals

She keeps doing that! Is she trying to tell us something... I mean she is the brand manager... she does marketing. This might unsettle people. She's gotta work on her language :)

D&D 4E Wizards learning spells gone in 4e? Maybe that's what Rituals do instead...

According to Chris Perkins here, there is no limit to the number of rituals you can learn and/or use.

Trimming the Fat: Three Ability Scores

I once had a post on the 3e WotC forums that was an attempt to do away with the level adjustment system. Many people came in and said "Why fix what isn't broken?" and I said "Well, It may not be broken for your game, it is broken for my game. That's why I have this thread." After about 150...

How would you fix the Paladin's Mark?

Easy fix in my opinion: If, on the paladins turn, he moves away from the mark and ends up more than 5 squares away, the mark is removed. This means that if he gets pushed away, the mark stays. If he goes to help an ally 2 spaces away, it still stays. But if he starts high tailing it out of...

    Grognards?

Me too. I got called a fanboy on the WotC forums for disagreeing with someone about their non-logical conclusion of 4e. I laughed. I cried. It was a moment. I wish you could have shared it with me.

When does D&D stop becoming D&D?

Haha, and that's the problem with not calling it graphite. Another story, although my ignorance as a child on this one... when I was a kid, the key to my room was on a thermometer in the hallway. One morning in my zombie state, I somehow managed to break the thermometer and the liquid got into...

    Grognards and Ham

Wow, the striking resemblance of this: and this: is amazing. I guess great minds think alike. ;)

Saving throws are a coin toss?

And one of the key concepts of D&D 4e is that you can slide up and down the monster scale and create a challenge with a much wider range of monsters for a party than before. Level still matters. You'll kick those lower level things butts still. But it'll be because you've got so many other...

    Grognards and Ham

Credit where credit is due, right? You were inspired by: Source Source Source Were you not? :) Very funny. I read it all aloud. If I had kids yet, I'd read them Grognards and Ham as bed time stories.

Saving throws are a coin toss?

I swear, Vin Diesel is way nerdier than I am - and I'm posting on ENworld! It's like the Weird Al song Jerry Springer: "I've got way too much class to watch Jerry Springer. Come over here and pull on my finger." Look, I did another nerdy thing and mentioned Weird Al, yet I'm still less nerdy...

If they weren't in the phb...

All of the races existed as options in my campaign setting beforehand with their own flavor, so I have no problem with a player playing one with the proper story behind it. Although, I've always required players to determine their character motivations and backgrounds despite what race they...

    Ranger's Careful Attack house rule...

Not that I'd pre-houserule a game that I haven't played yet, but if I determined that I needed to houserule it someway to make it make sense, I would take out the minus bonus to hit and then add a line "If you are attacking your quarry, then you gain +4 to hit."

When does D&D stop becoming D&D?

Medieval, for your reference. On a related topic, I remember back when I was in high school my baby brother was in 3rd grade. He told me that his teacher told him that Medieval was an incorrect spelling and midevil was the correct spelling. Teachers don't know everything, but when you don't...

Saving throws are a coin toss?

And, from everything I see, you don't make your saving throw until the end of your turn. Basically, meaning you spend your first turn under it's effects as slowed. Then you have the possibility of falling asleep at the end of your first turn.

    The Unstoppable Black Dragon

Would you fight him with a fox? would you fight them in a house, or with The Rouse?

Has Monte Cook made 4th ed Unnecessary?

I think it's more of an insult to the 3.5 edition than to Monte Cook. In fact, it's kind of like a shout out for Monte Cook, saying "Yeah, 3.5 needed you Monte! Thanks! It's nice to know though, that instead of fixing things in 3.5, if you make stuff for 4e, you'll be adding stuff that will be...

When does D&D stop becoming D&D?

To the individual: D&D ceases to be D&D when the the edition no longer embodies that which the individual feels D&D is to that person. This means that any one person may see any edition as D&D or not, but not all will be in agreement. To the whole: D&D ceases to be D&D when a majority (as in...

    The Unstoppable Black Dragon

So the way I'm reading this, is that it's like the paladin's Divine Challenge. It was a bug that was too late to fix for the D&DExp but it's been fixed for the real version of the game?

Saving throws are a coin toss?

While I agree that the problem is that people are not understanding how the system works because they are making assumptions about it. (Anyone who was listening when WotC said "saving throws are still in, but they aren't the same thing they used to be"" knows to look at how it's changed roles.)...
