Level Up (A5E) New to the DM's Chair

My advice would be to run a short campaign that is maybe a one shot with a little extra content here and there (maybe two to three sessions) to get your feet wet. This allows you flex some dm muscles without diving into a months long setting or the pressure of finishing all your content in a...

ZEITGEIST Adventures in ZEITGEIST setting book now available (formerly an announcement of the Level Up Kickstarter)

@RangerWickett - you mention this is set twenty years after the AP. I'm about to start running that early next year and am hoping to use this content as well for character options and setting information. Is there anything I should explicitly avoid as spoiler-y to the campaign in the character...

Level Up (A5E) "Untamed" synergy feats

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Why would you not be able to utilize the feat on non concentration spells? We're talking about the benefits of living stampede, not untamed.

Level Up (A5E) "Untamed" synergy feats

Yeah the rare versions for sure mitigate it a bit as an option. Again, dm intervention is required to get there. It's not quite as severe as my first impression but it's still awfully limited by things that are RAW and you can assume access to. Animal friendship and awaken seem like the only...

Level Up (A5E) "Untamed" synergy feats

They're all concentration spells with a 30/60 ft range unfortunately. Untamed specifies you can only cast or concentrate on touch or self in a rage. Animal friendship and pets are definitely a possibility but require the dm putting those things there in the first place.

Level Up (A5E) "Untamed" synergy feats

That's the only thing I saw and find familiar is very much not a thing that would benefit from rage bonus (not that it can't be very situationally useful). It's only very rarely used in combat in games I've been in and it's only a single creature. It's just strange that those two feats have no...

Level Up (A5E) "Untamed" synergy feats

Sorry, my question is not about the utility of self and touch spells (which is very useful) but about the giving rage benefits to beasts, fey, and plants. The only thing I can think this would benefit is summoning or conjuring spells but those spells are not self or touch.

Level Up (A5E) "Untamed" synergy feats

I'm having trouble understanding how the second and third synergy feats in the Untamed group are good. Living stampede and wild hysteric give your rage benefits to allied beasts, fey, or plants when you are raging, up to your wisdom modifier. However, untamed only adds the benefits of being able...

Official News Memories of Holdenshire on Roll20

How did your tweak it? The start is the only thing I've read so far and it seemed like a really fun way to start an adventure.

Level Up (A5E) Crazy fighter idea: Maneuver Specialization exertion cost reduction minimum 0

I think the concern with making any maneuver 0 cost is that now that's just the basic attack for the fighter. There's no reason for them to do regular ol attacks if they have a maneuver that lets them take "the Attack action and make a weapon attack, as well as any additional attacks granted by...

Level Up (A5E) Speed reduced for heavy armor?

Dump str and Dex dwarf real good in full plate with a tower shield... Idk what class that would be but I'd play it.

Level Up (A5E) Speed reduced for heavy armor?

I'm thinking the required proficiency with shields, disadvantage on stealth and Acrobatics, and reduced speed by ten ft are enough to balance the benefits without adding strength requirements.

Level Up (A5E) Parrying Weapons & Duelist subclass.

I think in the absence of clarification from an official source this is the way I'd rule it. The most parry's you can get normal is two. One from a main hand one off hand. Each is a gamble of whether it'll actually work (unless the attack just meets the AC). None of that seems so overpowered as...

Gate Pass Gazette Playtest the ARTIFICER (Kickstarter backers only)

Yes this is where my numbers came from (and I included the same for O5E in my table). I understand how they are prepared and see a difference in number but not so much so that it feels completely "so low compared to other classes" particularly half casters and warlock. Herald would have the same...

Level Up (A5E) Dexterity Bonus to AC for shapeshifting

Page 172 of the adventurer's guide While in a wild shape your armor class equals 12 + 1/4 your druid level as shown on the Wild Shapes table. If your wild shape would have ah igher AC, you may use that instead.
