I was a rabid visitor of Eric Noah's 3e preview since early 2000. Didn't start posting in the forums till right after the PHB came out. Used to post as Sebastian, but the boards changed during a period when I wasn't around, so I lost my name. *grumble*

I tend towards artillery platform type spellcasters. All my min-maxing goes towards high DC's, high spellcasting attribute, and a large number of spells. Not counting the wizard's free feats, a straight spellcaster will get 7 feats by 20th level (8 if they're human.) Now, to do artillery...

Grazzt's right. And IIRC, the DMG even has a sidebar addressing the dangers of having a plane where time flows faster than on the prime. It's not just about making weapons. If you've got a quick way to access it, you can go there to heal, buff before a fight, or cause other such problems...

It's funny you should say that. The shadow plane doesn't do anything for me and I've eliminated it from my game altogether. Everything that refers to the shadow plane refers to the ethereal instead. To each their own. :)

Thanks for the quick response. Could I bug you for a page number in the DMG. I don't have my books at work, and the SRD makes no mention of that restriction.

I somehow got it stuck in my head that the lowly followers (as opposed to the special higher level follower) of a character with leadership have to be NPC classes. Did I make this up, I don't see it in the rules anywhere.

Why not combine the ethereal with the shadow for the infernal transitive plane and use the astral as the celestial transitive plane?
