How long have you been a member of this community?

I was a rabid visitor of Eric Noah's 3e preview since early 2000. Didn't start posting in the forums till right after the PHB came out. Used to post as Sebastian, but the boards changed during a period when I wasn't around, so I lost my name. *grumble*

    Dungeon/Poly Sept/Oct Issue Preview

Already did a poll, it's fallen down a couple pages. There was a slight majority that preferred Dungeon by itself or Dungeon but didn't mind Polyhedron over those who wanted Polyhedron by itself or Polyhedron but didn't mind Dungeon, but for the most votes were for the both of them together.

    Favorite Wielding Style

I keep misreading this thread and thinking that it says 'Favorite Wedding Style'. Which was confusing the heck out of me. Figured maybe it was something about what was your favorite event to stage in an in-game wedding. Weddings are a staple of fiction, and something's always happening during...

    Please rate Hold the Line

It's an average feat for players, but better for monsters, especially when used with Large and in Charge.

Gary Gyxax vs Morrus Celebrity Burping, to benefit GenCon RPGA Judges!

How do you qualify to be a judge? Is being in the RPGA enough?

    Dungeon vs Polyhedron

Alright, Eric's post about what was in the upcoming issue of Dungeon prompted a mini-rant from me. Here's what I said: And DarwinofMind responded with the other side of the coin. So, what do you think? Should they be their own mags, are you happy to have them together, or do you just think...

    Dungeon/Poly Sept/Oct Issue Preview

Hmmm...time for a poll...sorry to hijack the thread Eric!

    Dungeon/Poly Sept/Oct Issue Preview

That's a great idea. Except for the fact that without Dungeon, polyhedron would fold from lack of subscribers, and then you wouldn't have any magazine at all. Ultimately, you're supporting my point. The two magazines do not have a lot in common, they do not belong together, and there are...

    Dungeon/Poly Sept/Oct Issue Preview

Well, it's definitely true that Dungeon is till the best value for the money, but I wish they'd take out poly and give me more useable content if they're gonna raise the price. People complain about Dragon being just a promo for next month's product, but at least Dragon's got D&D content. I'm...

Can A Readied Action work with Haste?

I don't see why you'd necessarily have your first action be your held action. Seems like a better idea to use your first action (either from haste, or your regular action) to attack, and then hold the second part for something. Holding the first action then using the second doesn't make a lot...

Spellcasting Prodigy - Whats the beef?

I tend towards artillery platform type spellcasters. All my min-maxing goes towards high DC's, high spellcasting attribute, and a large number of spells. Not counting the wizard's free feats, a straight spellcaster will get 7 feats by 20th level (8 if they're human.) Now, to do artillery...

    Social Commentary

Acutally, this thread just reminded me, there is a d20 Afghanistan game that came out recently. I really wish I was joking, because it seems like incredibly bad taste to me (your mileage may vary), but in it you play as a US soldier (or squad, or whatever a group of more than one soldier is...

    Creating magic items overnight...

Grazzt's right. And IIRC, the DMG even has a sidebar addressing the dangers of having a plane where time flows faster than on the prime. It's not just about making weapons. If you've got a quick way to access it, you can go there to heal, buff before a fight, or cause other such problems...

    Reading Scrolls in armour

Sorry, that was meant to be a rhetorical question. :) I think you're a master min-maxer (and I salute you for that), and could find another loophole to exploit if this one were closed (using wands for example). ;)

    Reading Scrolls in armour

Doesn't Living Greyhawk follow the most current rulings, and they're playing it like the FAQ too? So even if it's only been in the FAQ for a little while, that's the way it's being "officially" played. IMO, the DMG evidence (particularly the scroll shield) is pretty convincing. All in all, it...

    Homebrew help: a new plane

It's funny you should say that. The shadow plane doesn't do anything for me and I've eliminated it from my game altogether. Everything that refers to the shadow plane refers to the ethereal instead. To each their own. :)

Leadership Feat: Are Followers NPC Classes or Regular Classes?

Thanks for the quick response. Could I bug you for a page number in the DMG. I don't have my books at work, and the SRD makes no mention of that restriction.

Leadership Feat: Are Followers NPC Classes or Regular Classes?

I somehow got it stuck in my head that the lowly followers (as opposed to the special higher level follower) of a character with leadership have to be NPC classes. Did I make this up, I don't see it in the rules anywhere.

    Homebrew help: a new plane

Why not combine the ethereal with the shadow for the infernal transitive plane and use the astral as the celestial transitive plane?
