Nominate your MOST ANTICIPATED RPG of 2026

I mean, at a certain point it becomes about generating positive buzz.

What's the best die type and why is it the d12?

The answer is definitely the d12 but also I think you turned the d10 into a second d20 in your poll there

D&D General Wild Magic, Yea or Nay?

The Tome of Magic was my first non-core AD&D book I ever got to flip through, and I absolutely loved it. Wild mages in particular were always my favorite.

    General video game discussion

It's almost like those critiques weren't being made in good faith! The thing is, this exact mechanic has been conceptually in the series from the beginning, just never quite so explicit. But my Origins Mage Grey Warden was taking advantage of so many status effect combos (a personal...

D&D 5E (2014) Dungeons of Drakkenheim: a dark fantasy sandbox in a ruined city

Oh believe you me, those gears were already turning as I was reading the initial adventure pitch, and they only spun faster as I moved through it. I do think there's ultimately a few things that would make the transition difficult, but I've already got in mind several replacements if that's what...

From a game-design standpoint it's basically an unsolvable problem, because what happens if you make the NPC too fast, or too slow, and there's absolutely no way to make them feel good

Exploring Eberron: Forge of the Artificer

If I had to make a list of Eberron's most significant and important contributions to D&D as a whole, it would be: 1) Its approach to alignment, specifically in restricting the "always <alignment>" tag to extraplanar/immortal beings, allowing sapient creatures to have free will and construct...

Most of the hate for Veilguard had little to actually do with the game itself, sadly

I have often heard them referred to as "walk-and-talk segments", almost always disparagingly

    What's the best potato?

Mashed parsnips is also where it's at

    What's the best potato?

I know that a lot of foodies and fancy chefs and whatnot like to put out pureed potatoes and say "this is mashed potatoes" but that is absolute nonsense; if your mashed potatoes aren't lumpy I don't them on my plate.

    What's the best potato?

The latter two are what I consider a classic hash brown. Home fries aren't terrible but I definitely prefer them shredded (and tots are definitely high up there too!)

    Thread block

Yeah, if someone blocks me in a thread where we're arguing and I was pretty sure I didn't cross any lines myself, I usually assume that they're trying to stop themselves from stepping over the line in response. At least, that's ended up being the case the few times I've had a similar thing...

    Thread block

Not to speak for anybody else, and I don't know the particulars of this one since I've not really been following that thread, but there are times on this forum when someone will block a group of people at least temporarily so they don't get themselves sucked in to endless arguments. Again, not...

    Thread block

Yes, if you are blocked by the thread's OP you cannot access the rest of the thread. That thread still exists for me as well, but there are threads I used to frequent that give me error messages that let me know I've been blocked their OP.

    What's the best potato?

I went with mashed but it took a lot to make me turn away from hash browns. The thing about potatoes is that the closer it is to its natural state the less appealing it gets* *baked potatoes being the exception

Traveller 5e coming from World's Largest RPG in cooperation with Mongoose Publishing

I'll say that I'm at least intrigued. Will it be a masterful, chocolate-and-peanut-butter blend of two great but seemingly incompatible things, like Dungeon World? Or will it be a confused, half-measured mess of a thing that somehow fails to capture the magic of either property, like Dungeon World?
