    Sunbeam

So if you have a friend spotting for you, and nobody gets in your way, you should be able to toss AE spells with reasonable accuracy. Hooray for 'free' speech!

    Darkvision through a telescope

Going back to the OP, I'm curious which boat had the lantern? If the lantern was on the same boat as the character, would his darkvision be active at all? If the lantern was on the boat he was looking at with his spyglass, why would he need darkvision to see it?

    Little Known Rules of D&D

Well that certainly took the wind out of my sales. However, I believe my point is still valid. An AMF should pass through physical objects, tower shields included.

    Darkvision through a telescope

If we step back a couple of E's, we find that darkvision used to be infravision. I don't think infrared light has a 60' range cap. But then, infravision had a 60' range too. I suppose it isn't supposed to make sense? Edit: Due to the index of refraction of glass, infrared is almost completely...

    Little Known Rules of D&D

I believe that only applies to physical bursts such as a fireball. An antimagic field would not have a physical presence, and as such, would it not simply pass through the shield? I'm sure a magical shield would stop it, but wait... I certainly wouldn't allow it.

    Counterspelling Outdated now?

What book is this from? It would be super useful in a couple of my games.

    Blindsight vs. Mirror Image (figment)

The description specifically says 'area spells'. This leaves it very open to interpretation, but as the grenades aren't specifically a spell effect, even a splash should count as a 'hit'.

    Blindsight vs. Mirror Image (figment)

They certainly are! Grenades, alchemists' fire and acid, for example, are hardly spells. They do non-magical damage. Would not the images disappear as if struck?

    Blindsight vs. Mirror Image (figment)

    What about grenades?

    Blindsight vs. Mirror Image (figment)

Mirror images may be capable of 'generating' sound within the context of the spell, but being able to 'reflect' sound would require substance, which your typical illusory image, by definition, doesn't have. Echolocation seems like a perfectly viable way of 'not seeing' the mirror images.

Can a Mount be Surprised When the Rider is Not?

I wouldn't have the players roll for their mounts. It would be easier to drop a die behind the screen. If something is up and a horse bolts for 'no reason', it just adds flavour. Do you know what the horse is thinking? I think not. That's why you don't get to roll.

    Resist Energy, Mass

You're missing the point. A dragon, for example, will be at least as intelligent as the party members. The DM should be as well. Find ways around the parties defenses and then they'll have to get more creative as well. Everyone gains.

Does sniping while hidden deal sneak attack damage?

Attacking from a good hiding position as a thief allows a sneak attack; no dex. Attacking from a good hiding position as a sniper, by the same logic, should negate dex, even though it does not allow a sneak attack. From the targets stand point it doesn't matter. Either way, they are being...

    Roper strands

I actually like the electrical energy idea. It could emenate an electrical field that doesn't cause physical damage, but weakens the muscles. Think Tazer.

Do two different Resist Energies Stack?

Resist Energy: Acid, and Resist Energy: Electricity should definatly be able to affect a target at the same time. Because they are using different energy types, they have different descriptors and will not negate eachother. If a pair of mages both cast the spell with the same energy descriptor...

    Resist Energy, Mass

I agree with Moon. Most monsters, even the ones that are as intelligent as the PC's don't necissarily know what spells are being cast at a given time. To assume they know that a resistance spell has been thrown and automatically not use the big guns? Please. On the same note, even if they do...

    Spell Radius and Large+ Creatures

We tend to revise certain rules that change it from a 'roll-playing game' into 'an overly convoluted board game'. That being said, I think the 'emanation' rule makes the most sense. The caster/target becomes the point of origin.

Deck of Many things: Your best and worst moments

I've only had one experience with the deck. Three draws. Pulled the throne twice, very cool. The third card, I don't remember what it was, but it was fairly inconsequential. The biggest thing to remember when dealing with enchanted cards it to make sure you are prepared. If that means getting...

    No 2 magic effects stack

I don't see the shield and armor being a problem as they are both non-magical.
