Vote for your favorite Paragon Path - Part 3: Paladin

Morninglord. Why it isn't in your list is baffling. One of the best level 11 encounter power out there, a level 16 feature that is better than pit fighter in damage and it gives it to allies too, and most of the other power and features are great too (okay the level 20 daily is meh.) Really...

    Artificers: Sucky?

A quarterstaff is a horrible weapon. It is fine for wizards to count staffs as quarterstaffs for weapon focus and what-not, but if you actually have to use it as a weapon, everything falls apart. This is especially true when so many of their weapon powers have flexible ranges making a tratnyr or...

    Artificers: Sucky?

Artficers are fantastic, due in large part to how good their at-wills are. Magic Weapon, especially with Battle Engineer, but even without, is very powerful. Giving large bonuses both to hit and damage to everyone next to you, with no restriction on times per turn, or who the attacks are made...

    D&D 4E What Doesn't 4E Do Well?

No one is asking you to play one. Just because you don't want to play an easy class does not meen they shouldn't exist in the game. What kind of character you personally enjoy is not the basis of the entire game for everyone else. :hmm:

    D&D 4E What Doesn't 4E Do Well?

This is an excelent point. Some people don't want to juggle 4 encounter powers, 4 dailies, 6 encounter powers, item dailies, etc. etc. They either are RPers who get bored during combat or are new to the game and there really should be a few builds who only do one thing. It won't diminnish the...

    D&D 4E What Doesn't 4E Do Well?

My list: 1) Combat in 3rd dimension. How tall is a given zone? Can a spirit companion or stinking cloud be summoned in the air? Can I teleport monsters into the air and make them fall? Why is a dragon ever on the ground? How is that scareb swarm granting cover to that Hill Giant? All of the...

    Healing Word

The one example I know of is the Arcane Riposte feature of Battle Mages. It is intuitively a melee attack, even though it does not say as much, so I don't know of any ranged or area attacks; but it is an example of an attack that is not a power. (A pretty terrible one.)

Dragon #382 - Class Acts: Invoker - God Fragments

I would have prefered if god fragments had been linked to domains instead of gods. Expecting a whole series of these for FR or other pantheons when they are such a specific niche for a single class (MC notwithstanding), seems like an inneficient use of design resources.

    The Most Underpowered Class?

I don't know, PH2 fixed how awful half-elves were even though half-elves were a PH1 race. When there is a balance problem they usually try to fix it in a core book so it reaches the casuals who don't go online. It is reasonable to hope that PH3 will try to fix warlocks.

    The Most Underpowered Class?

It's okay. The article is out and there wasn't much to show. There is a feat that lets you teleport monsters instead of doing your curse damage, but everything else was fairly lackluster. The conversation can go on. I was right. Nothing has changed.

Changing damage type of various powers

It is dangerous to do it because changing damage types has a much larger effect on the game than just flavor. Some damage types are very good (Cold, Radiant, Psychic) and some are very bad (Necrotic, Poison, Fire), and powers are, I hope, balanced according to the damage type they use. In this...

    Monk Question

Unfortunately they seem to have replaced most instances of AC with Fortitude, which is usually close to the same, so expect monks to start missing a lot.

    The Most Underpowered Class?

Yeah, summoning would be a great new angle, and makes a lot of sense since they, you know, actually trafic with otherwordly powers. Unfortunately the "D&D has become WoW!" crowd might be keeping the summoning warlock from seeing the light of day. I just hope that after tommorow's warlock...

    The Most Underpowered Class?

Felon has been 100% right on everything so far, most especially that anyone who claims a warlock's damage deficiency is made up for by his control elements has clearly never played one. Cursebite and cursegrind seem like great powers until you realize that they deal necrotic damage and target...

D&D 4E How do I create an NPC Locksmith in 4e?

Keep in mind that normal non-adventurer types are minions. If he is a great and legendary locksmith than he might be high level, but he is still probably a minion, so working up a lot of stats for him seems unnecessary. If you want the fight to be a challenge though, just grab a level...

Is Suden Roots Important for the Warden Anymore?

Salve of Power is a major issue as well. Form of Winter's Herald remains strong through epic, where you can keep enough salves around to use the form several times a day. I still think Sudden Roots is a great feat. Maybe not automatic anymore, but players who want to take different powers from...

Rain of Blood encounter power lvl 7/Invoker is too powerfull

It targets Fortitude. That is a significnt factor. If it targetted reflex or will it might be overpowered, but since it target fort I think it is fine.

    D&D 4E 4E monk am i missing something?

They are a dex-based melee class. By that very design they are pretty good at range and at melee. They may not get any powers usable at range, but ranged basic attack is a perfectly good power, and they get proficiency in both the dagger and the shuriken so I don't see a problem.

Twin strike and area attacks ignores the fighter mark?

It really has to be run that way. Too many elites and solos have powers that say "make a melee basic attack against two different targets." They could have just as easily written the attack as "close burst one, target: two creatures in burst." Those two wordings should not function as...

    D&D 4E 4E monk am i missing something?

Having played a monk for a little while I can say that their damage is a lot better than it seems at first glance. The greatest strength of the monk class is the at-wills. Dancing Cobra is a weapon attack that targets reflex. That means you hardly ever miss, which means good DPR. Five storms...
