    [Grim Tales] Spellcasting Variant

After looking at the Warhammer FRP v2 rules, I'm tempted to make spellcasting easier, but even more risky. Sure, you have mad spell burn resistance, but once you start rolling doubles or triples for your spellburn dice, it's gonna end in tears...

WARHAMMER FRPG - I have it!

Well, since Elves get fewer Fate points, they get fewer Fortune Points as well (think of them as Action Points). You may have a higher ballistic Skill, but if you miss, you don't get a lucky break.

WARHAMMER FRPG - I have it!

And it's done by Green Ronin, so it doesn't suck. One thing I've heard is that, in addition to fate points, each PC gets 'fortune points' which are essentially rerolls for skill checks etc that regenerate per day.

The closest to D&D without magic

Grim Tales works well. It's like d20M without the reliance on modern bits.

[Grim Tales] Any reason for Advanced Classes?

I don't think there's anything an advanced class has to offer that couldn't be handled by a few feat chains or talent trees.

    Massive Damage Threshold models

Hmm, some of these responses realy take the usefulness out of the Improved Damage Threshold feat :/

    [Grim Tales] Effects of Armor

If you want players to lighten up on armour, why not make Armour and defense bonuses not stack? That way, once a character gets +8 defense bonus, they'd only choose full plate for the damage conversion. in the end, you'll end up with PCs using heavy armour until their defense goes up, then...

    Victorian Era Adventure

I still reckon Amanda Quick's novels are a great Victorian Cthulu/Blue Rose hybrid :)

    [Grim Tales] Spellcasting Questions

Excellent! These rules will fit nicely for the Winds of Magic in a Warhammer campaign.

How do you deal with whiny players?

Perhaps you should talk to his SO and see if she agrees with your opinion of his demeanour. If so, suggest she has a talk to him about complaining during play. Of course, your secret plan is to get her to dump him so you can roleplay without that loser.

    Warhammer RPG release schedule

A bit off-topic, but did the final WHFRP adventure, "Empire in Flames" ever get the promised rewrite? Apparently the ending was a bit lame and someone was going to rewrite it...

    [Grim Tales] Spell lists?

I'd stick to non-gamebreaking spells. I'd start spellcasters off with some small, self-limiting spells like Sleep and Endure Elements. if they want something flashier, then an arcane version of Produce Flame would make for a very good fireball-substitute. Given the lack of magical items around...

    [Grim Tales] Medium-magic?

Trying to put together a Warhammer-style RPG (have ebay'd sufficient quantities of The Enemy Within campaign). I'm a bit worried about the GT magic system. I don't want to have wizards roaming around with large amounts of spellburn resistance, but I was hoping to have them not laid up for as...

    Micro-managing penalties

I break out the 3" x 5" index cards. Every item they have 'on-hand' has a separate card, with its name, weight and cost. Anything that's a container has its contents written on the card instead. That way it's easy to add up weight by flipping through cards, and crossing off potions & arrows is...

Isn't there a cauldron thing in the book of vile darkness that manufactures zombies?

Don't forget the occasional spell, explosions, falling etc. Armour's nice to have, but isn't good vs everything.

I like the idea of using lighting effects for night time etc. I'll be using that in my games. For fog, i'd break out the cotton balls...
