1001 movies for plots.

It might be a good idea to do a find for your suggestions on this page to make sure they haven't been mentioned already.

Anime has some great storylines, at least if you adapt them. Plus there's a chance your PCs have never seen it so it'll seem original to them.

66. FLCL - the idea of extremely pecular things happening in a mundane setting, and how it all unravels beautifully
67. Kenshin OVA - Excellent government rebellion story. I've actually got an NPC based off the OVA kenshin (at least in fighting style and philosophies), except he's not quite as good-aligned, being half drow and all :)
68. Kenshin series - I'm seperating this from the OVA. Tons of sub-series can be made up with this
69. Macross Plus - I can't even begin to describe all the great hooks this has. Off the top of my head: Sharon Apple (maybe a mage is trying something similar), the prototype race with the YF-19, YF-21, and the X-9 can easily be translated into a fantasy setting. And let's not forget the whole idea of a macross crashing into 'earth' and what effects it has on civilization. There's an entire game world setting waiting to happen.

Now the big screen:

69. The Langoliers - This was on the other day and I watched it for a while. It has a setup completely suited for a campaign (though maybe a short one lest the PCs get frustrated).
70. Seven - The ending might need some fiddling with, but can be a great catch-the-killer / who-dun-it. Probably not much combat, but that's not precisely a bad thing, plus it'll have a really dark mood.
71. Dragonheart - The concept at least is pretty cool. This could easily become a very memorable campaign

And my last suggestion for the evening:

72. The Dirty Dozen - I am simply appalled that this hasn't been mentioned yet. So many options, and it works well in those hard-to-control evil campaigns.

73. Braveheart : "Freeeeeeeeeeeeedoooooom!"

74. Ghostbusters

75. Predator

76. Jumanji

77. A Nightmare on Elm Streeet

78. Time Machine

79. The Stand *Drools* Just think how cool a campaign based on The Stand would be...

80. The Dirty Dozen.

81. Kelly's Heroes. I started tinkering with an short adventure in this vein for Weird Wars.

82. Treasure of the Sierra Madre. "Badges? We don't need no stinking Badges!"

83. The African Queen

84. Gone with the Wind. More for style rather than plot. But with right players it could be interesting.

85. On the Waterfront. I saw this one again and it struck me how a lot of those characters could be adapted to a very sophisticated and believable thieves guild.

86: Labyrinth
87: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (a whole school of sorcerers and wizards... with finals and everything)
89: Army of Darkness
90: Lady Hawk
91: The Rock
92: Nightmare on Elm Street movies

97. The Man Who Would Be King.
98. Night of the Living Dead (all versions).
99. Dark Crystal.
100. The Princess Bride. ;)

101+ movies for inspiration

Some oddball ones that I've actually used:

101. The Blues Brothers (getting the old adventuring group back together for an over-the top adventure)

102. Dumbo (dejected character getting picked on until he discovers an unknown latent natural magic ability)

103. The Odd Couple (making two exact opposite personality types have to work and live together)

104. The Lion King (all of the various Hamlet-type themes, mixed in with some of the Disney cuteness for comic relief)

105. It's A Wonderful Life (changing one event in the lives of the characters and seeing the alternate outcome. In this module a single orc was slain in the past, and radically changed the entire future)
