I haven't looked too deeply into the whole thing, but it seems ISRP is partially chat-based. Which leads to another thing that I've noticed - quite a bit of bad blood, from the participants towards Wizards of the Coast over several issues. Hope that doesn't spill over.

Now, now...WE donated that money out of the goodness of our hearts, not so we could complain later. Anyway, you seem to be a Registered User, Vigwyn, not a Paying Customer... ;)

Given that Morrus said that the influx is small, it doesn't matter anyway, but I was pointing out that it was the ENWorld community (yes, including me, CS account or not) that ponied up for the big server, and I was just concerned that the Wizards traffic would swamp it. If Wizards wants to benefit from the server, they should help pay for it. Heck, they didn't even offer any prizes if I remember correctly.

Anyway, it's really a moot issue--I'm just explaining my thoughts behind my original post.

Well and donations for the server did not include Community Supporter accounts. So it is quite possible to have somebody that donated and is still not at Community Supporter status. Though I would argue they have supported the community. Heck, I know people that contributed to the fund drive and I cannot even confirm that they have ever created an account. They largely lurk...

I'll admit I'm rather confused by the whole ISRP thing. It really isn't a play-by-post of the sort run here. I have had very poor luck with pbp on Wizards after a couple attempts, but it seems the ISRP folks over there are a) a small community and b) rather serious about their games, which bodes well IMO. Welcome, ISRPers!

More people coming to ENWorld the better, IMO. Especially if they are serious about their games.

One small step for roleplayers, one giant leap for ENWorld domination!

Wow, you think someone would have told me about this... (J/K)

I knew, I just didn't realize the announcement had been made. :o

I would be more than willing to try to answer any of the questions regarding ISRP and PbP...

First, it’s not in anyway, shape, or forum going to replace what ENworld already has... To be honest it seems to cater to a different type of gamer... They game in chat, not very thread on a message board, it’s very much freeform and light on the rules. The message board is used mostly for record keeping.

It is sort of like LEW in that it’s a persistent world but that’s about it…

If there’s something I missed I will be more than willing to try to answer it. Please note that I will not be affiliated with the new ISRP forum. :)

I hope ENWorld gets something out of this, and that we're not providing a free service to Wizards. :uhoh:

We're not providing a free service for WotC. We picked up some wayward souls that WotC had told they would no longer have a home come mid August.
