Well, it sounds as if they simply weren't aware of the ongoing efforts here, but I am concerned about not handling any registration here. I'm afraid that something established elsewhere simply won't have the same sort of visibility outside of UMD.

Perhaps it would be possible to set up multiple registration "paths" and appoint someone here and someone at the DCRPG mailing list and/or NOVA mailing list and allow players to indicate their interest and show status of games at any of the above.

It isn't really much of my business beyond the fact that I hope to SOMEDAY make it up to one of these Game Days, but I wanted to mention that the NC Game Day has used an "off site" registration system for the last 5 or 6 Game Days and it has worked very well. The guy who put it together is an experienced Con organizer and excellent web-page designer. It allows us to keep everything nice and organized without an ENWorlder having to constantly update a sign-up post in a thread here.

But I do say this with the caveat that the NC Game Days, at least in terms of the RPG aspect, are fairly dominated by ENWorlders. We stated from the outset that we didn't want to get swallowed up by a larger entity and that our primary purpose in scheduling them was to get to game with folks who we interact with here on the boards.

Make of that what you will.

We're not trying to ignore the ENworld community, we'd just like to make is more accessible to those outside the ENworld community. This includes the majority of the Terrapin Gaming Club. In previous events we've had club members who have been unable to find the signup thread and have overall been frusterated with being forced to register via ENworld. We also had some difficulties last time with the thread not being updated correctly, so we're going for an automatic system where there are fewer bottlenecks. We're using warhorn.net for the registration this year (http://www.warhorn.net/terpconfall2005/), which a few of us have used before (as attendees) and have really liked.

In all honesty if we had known that people were doing planning here we would have used that as a consideration when booking the room, but we can't make decisions based on things we don't know about.

Attendees can currently register and declare their intent to come, but slot registration is disabled for a period of no less than two weeks to give GMs a chance to set up their games (a few people made it in while we were setting it up and I just don't have the heart to kick them out). I encourage you to register if you're planning on attending so we have a better idea how many people to expect. Once again, if you'd like to run a game contact me or email terpcon@gmail.com and we'll get your game listed.

I understand all of the arguments placed above, and I have never been to a Game Day before (so I don't have much authority), but would it be possible to list EN World handles by the names on the registration page? There are people here I would like to meet at the table, but I don't know 99% of them by "real" name.

Edit: Also, is there a list we can see of attendees?

Hey everyone. Apparently there were some crossed wires. Let me introduce myself. I'm Daniel Powell, the current President of the Terrapin Gaming Club. To recap: We had complaints about the way sign-up was handled in the past so we are trying a new system on warhorn.net. If this doesn't work, we will probably come back to ENWorld for sign-ups. To register on WarHorn, you need to register a user name. So all you ENWorlders who only know each other by nickname can still sign up under your nicknames.
I would like to add that we in no way, shape, or form are mad at, are rejecting, or in any way harbor ill will towards ENWorld or any of its posters. We are looking forward to seeing you guys again at the Fall 2005 TerpCon. We just want to try a new system for signups.
If there are any concerns, questions, or comments, please feel free to e-mail myself and the other officers at terpcon@gmail.com or hit me up on AIM under DanielWPow.

The best way to make your ENworld handle visible is to incorporate it into your name when you register at warhorn, or edit it afterwards. For example, put your lastname in as Lastname (USERNAME), or Firstname "USERNAME" Lastname. It'll show up on the game schedule when you register for a slot (as a judge or a player).

As for the attendee list we do have access to one, but we would prefer it didn't circulate at this point. The majority of the people on it right now have absolutely no affiliation with ENworld (TGC members). Once we start registering people for slots we might post the list, but in all honesty it doesn't seem nessicary right now. If you'd like to start a thread of ENworld people who are planning on attending that's cool, but until we start play signups we don't have any intention of posting the list of registered attendees.

I've registered the following game for the afternoon session for TerpCon 2005 - who's interested?

“Conspiracy in Cabot Cove” a D20 Modern adventure based on several 1980’s television shows. Possible player characters include Michael Knight, Ben Matlock, MacGyver, TJ Hooker, Thomas Magnum, Remington Steele, Laura Holt, and others.

Mystery, murder (and maybe a bit of parody) have found a home in Cabot Cove, Maine – the per capita crime capitol of the United States. Jessica Fletcher, famed mystery author, lies dead in her quaint and quiet home – what happened here? What became of the manuscript of her last novel? Why is Knight’s car talking? Is that Hooker’s real hair? Tune in for the mid-day session of TerpCon to find out!

Unfortunately, I asked to run my Spycraft game in the afternoon as well.
