15 levels of Mystic Theurge

Honestly, game balance starts going out the window around 15th level anyway, so it really wouldn't do much, in my opinion, that couldn't already be done with other means. Your character is still limited to a certain number of actions per round, you just have more options to choose from.

And RAW is not off-topic because the point is what would it impact game balance. Since you can already duplicate the effect with other options, I'd consider it safe to say that doing it would be fine. He's still 3 levels behind in spell level access, so it's not until 20th level that 9th level spells are even an issue.

You might want to ponder the implications of this philosophy.

Those levels tend to sneak up on you faster than you'd think.

I think this is fair and balanced. Getting 9th level spells in both wiz and clr without going epic would be a bit silly.

MT is not fair and balanced. It's weak.

What's silly about having both cleric and wizard 9th level spells? Clerics already can gain some 9th level wizard spells from domains. 9th level spell is a 9th level spell.

What's silly about it is having
a) Both 9th level Arcane and Divine spells
b) Having two sets of 9th level spell slots available to power them.

A Cleric with a couple 9th level arcane spells from domains can only cast them 1/day...

What would be the impact on game balance if I increased the number of levels in the Mystic Theurge Prestige Class to 15?

It would then 'close the gap' that exists for most characters between MT lvl 10 and Character level 20.

1/ Mystic Theurge requires level 6 before entry, so you're looking at 4 levels between MT 10 and level 20.

2/ Like I said in the other thread, Mystic Theurge is an externally balanced class. It's not internally balanced. That's why it's terribly weak at 1st level but acceptably strong at 5th level and quite decent at 10th level. And that's exactly why it's probably not balanced to continue the progression.

Taking that 15th level would be useless anyway. ('i get spells/level as a 21st clr... oh wait. no spells')
15 levels was an arbitrary number. (I could have said 'more than 10 levels of MT')

Also, some class combinations other than wiz/clr require you to take even more levels before entry, reducing the number of levels between MT10 and lvl 20 even more.

for 2/ : see other thread about balance questions (I'm trying not to repeat myself, even if it is in different threads)
