They're talking on the news today about how they're planning on removing the plane from the water in one piece. I wonder if they're going to try to recover any of those people's luggage and carry-ons. I'm sure they weren't thinking about their possessions as they were leaving the sinking plane, but now that they're out and alive they might start worrying about it. Their stuff would sure be waterlogged, but they might appreciate getting anything back that they can.

Luggage in the bays, were still in there. Carry-ons, don't know.

Thought I read something about a few thousand reinbursment for lost stuff from the splash down. I may be wrong- I just caught the headline / bold print.

The whole thing was amazing and the calmness and professionalism of the pilots truely do deserve recognition. So many other options would have lead to the deaths of the people on board and those in the city / suburbs.

and rolling a natural 20 on the landing helps a lot too ;)

It's been years since I worked for Delta, but I think I remember each
piece of luggage carrying some automatic insurance, but can't recall
any more (that wasn't my area).

I'd always just say consult the airline, it's usually not secret info. :)
