I'll give you the end game screen from the NES game "1942" exactly as it appeared after I beat it so many years ago:
I never bothered to beat it on the NES, mostly because I beat it in the arcade. On a single quarter. Once I discovered there was a particular pattern based on the beats in "We Built This City (On Rock And Roll)" and "Walk Like An Egyptian" that meant you never got hit, it was easy - most of the time I didn't even need to look.

Of course, I spent $5 in the jukebox, and REALLY pi$$ed off the old guys trying to play snooker in the arcade I was in. The $5 paid to play the two songs repeatedly - 17 times, with one extra play of Starship. :D

The end to the arcade one was one of the most interesting I've seen a machine do - it said "congratulations" (or maybe it was singular, I can't remember) and kicked out a quarter!

Interesting. No, the NES version had no 's'. Just one congratulation, and slightly off-center.

What deity name have you "picked" for your son?

I could be a rogue and say he should pick "Iyachtu Xvim", but truth is he's growing up to be Torm, Jr. -- minus the part about having Talona for a mom. :)

Never had a game give me a "refund" for beating it.... but then I've never beaten any game.... :\ I used to spend lots of time in community college playing Tetris.

I think that there'd be someone else in the "family" who can have the Talona name.....

And I doubt he'd go with Iyachtu without someone going "gesunheit" everytime he said his name..... ;)

Hmmm, not only did I not notice when I passed 1000 I never noticed when I passed 2000... Maybe I should keep my eyes open for when 3000 rolls near...
