I'm not sure people have read the whole blurb. It's a 96 page book people, with THREE campaign models. If you're all about hardcore post-apocolyptic gaming, this probably ain't gonna satisfy you.

Yeah, it's probably going to be more of a toolkit. I have to admit that d20 Past is the product I'm really looking forward to right now. I have high hopes for that (especially since it specifically mentions Victorian horror in the blurb and James Wyatt is writing it), but 96 pages isn't really a lot to cover all it says it will cover. I suppose it will have equipment and weapon lists by era, rule modifications to d20 Modern skills, feats, and character creation to better reflect specific eras (no Computer Use skill being the most obvious) etc.

If you are interested in running the genre, but are daunted by the immense size of Darwin's World 2, then you might want to take a look at Redline by FFG.

It's one of their little, self-contained Horizon brand games, and it's a very good one if you like "Road Warrior" type stuff.

Yeah, I've been flirting with picking that up. I loved Grimm.

I agree with the above poster that Darwin's World 2 has set the bar pretty high Drader
I completely agree. Darwin's World 2 is one of my favorite D20 product lines out there. Period. I have a great deal of appreciation and respect for the work they've done and I have nothing but praise for it. I've bought 2 copies of the DW 2 hardcover and I also have every other PDF they've released.

without violating your NDA, can you list a few things that it will provide that DW2 might have missed?
Technically I can't even confirm the existence of that book they have listed on Amazon or my alleged involvement with it, although we are all familiar with Amazon's accuracy.

If Amazon is correct, it would never be my intention to steal any of DW 2's thunder. Obviously some overlap would have to exist in such a product, but were I involved with such a thing, I would do my best to add rather than to compete.

Personally, I'm really not a huge fan of the post-apocalypse RPD genre, but if I was, I'd probably go with Darwin's World 2.

I have the first Darwin's World and thought it was (and still is) a great product considering it came out during d20's infancy. But ya know, post-apocalypse is one of those genres *I think* I'd like to play. Let me clarify by saying the I like reading it and can easily imagine scenarios, etc. for it, but I've never actually played or Judged a post-apocalyptic game.

Maybe one day I'll get that chance, but for now I'll just continue to read it.

This is excellent to hear. I find a lot of people believe the Wizards writers simply "do their thang" with little to no regard of the 3rd party market (probably a more viable complaint in fantasy products than the modern line). It's good to see "one of them" (as you might be considered) appreciating one of the truly great works of 3rd party origin. This makes me glad. So very, very glad.

Er... I'll stop now before I hug someone strange and create a really awkward moment. Carry on.
