[2006] Renting a floor at the Embassy Suites

Nonetheless, the Queen and I are likely to continue our trend of staying in one of the connected hotels - we're either going to go back to the Westin in 2006 or try the Mariott. The couple of blocks of walking to the Embassy to reach the Canadiana suite was far from problematic from our perspective(s).

The Embassy is a connected hotel too, just a little more roundabout than those like the Westin and Mariott. You have to wind through the mall and such. It works well for the days were it happens to be raining.

Embassy Suites sounds good except for the whole vertigo thing. I could deal with it, but it was a major problem for my friend Tonya. Anyplace else (like the hyatt or Westin) offer suites?

I heard the vertigo issue from a few people. You could always tell who they were in the elevators! Anyways, the Keeper of Ancient GenCon Lore has a hotel page that mentions some of the other hotels with suites. It might help you out.

I think this is a groovy idea, I just don't know if I'll be going to Gen Con next year or not at this point. Far too early to say. I'd like to, but we'll have two kids this time next year, and one will only be about 9 months old.

Yes - we know it's connected, but the relative proximity (and quality) of the *closer* hotels does tend to make them at least somewhat attractive. Now, when there comes a time that we're bringing a family along, we'll almost certainly be in the Embassy Suites - but while it's just the two of us, we tend to prefer cozier quarters.

Yes, the family makes a difference! I know that is the primary factor my family chose to stay at the Embassy Suites (the two room suites). The other perks were nice. And I suppose that short walk from the Westin or Mariott could make them quite attractive!

which is what i was going to say, just keep it in mind as we get closer. I know I am going to go and I know I am going to get a room, splitting the costs somehow would be a huge help, but we will wait and see as 2006 draws near what actually happens ....
