2020 (mini's) hobbystreak

Man, you just cost me $50. :p I did a search for Barrowmaze miniatures and came up with this website:

Otherworld Miniatures

I bought a bunch of stuff on sale. Pig faced orcs, a few bosses, a dryad, a nymph, a slime and a mold. Yes, I have an addiction and I'm out of control!
I own a ton of it and have even painted some! I have a legion of pig faced orcs I painted - those are my favorites. I have not been disappointed in any of the figures I have bought from Otherworld.

Did you do green or brown/yellow faces? How do you recommend getting the pinkish snouts like on their website? Drybrush, glaze, or blending? If it's a blend, I think I'm screwed. Or at least my orc's faces will be.

It's been a few years, but as I recall I used pictures of actual domestic pigs - so they are mostly pink. I used very pinkish flesh tones with some sepia washes.

More undead models done this week :)

Hey @Kris
Love the skeletons.

So, I was cruising reddit, which I do very occasionally, and ran into a subforum called r/DnDIY. There is a ton of praise on there for your stuff. I didn't know if you ever go on reddit (wouldn't blame you for avoiding it), but thought you might like to know.

Thanks @pogre ...I love the whole 'Jason and the Argonauts' vibe from the Warlord/Wargames-factory skellies (though I have a feeling they're gonna break easily).

And yeah, I check r/DnDIY now and again (I even post there from time to time) ...and it's always good to see folks putting some of my textures to use :)

For those not familiar with my 'textures' (i.e. most folks ;) ) ...I also make youtube videos showing how to make relatively quick/cheap/easy dungeon terrain (mainly by wrapping paper printouts over bits of cardboard etc.).

Here's a quick pic:

#hobbystreak week 8

I almost gave up on the streak last week ...as nothing seemed to go well ...and some stuff even ended up in the bin :(

Anyway, here's what I did manage to get done...

left: mantic skeleton (painted up as a black skeleton from barrowmaze). The highlights on this one have been really toned down by the varnish ...and the photo makes it look even worse :(

middle: Reaper (metal) stirges.

Where are some of your favorite places to get minis? Otherworld minis in the UK are my go-to for AD&D 1e style minis. Wonderful. There were some cool minis at Taban Miniatures (France), but it appears they just took my money and haven't bothered to ship my minis to me. Reaper and WizKids are good for really cheap plastic ones, naturally.

I don't really have a favorite ...I just buy from anywhere that is relatively cheap :)

Some example are:
Midlam Miniatures
Ral Partha Europe
Reaper Bones (I still have most of the last kickstarter unpainted - but I buy singles from HERE in the UK).
I've also picked up a few of the new(ish) Nolzur's minis (I just wish they didn't come pre-primed ...as a lot of the detail on the ghouls I got was obscured :( ).

You can see example of some of these in my OLD MINI'S THREAD if you're interested.
