D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook preview: "New Spells"

Yeah. Lets see how the new stat blocks of the 2025 book look like. In the videos they hint at those more useful information. Do you have more insight than I have?
Apparently. In a random Youtuber's sphinx cat familiar video, he shows its stat block, and, this'll be a shock and surprise, it's the exact same clutter of everything jammed in there.

And you don't think they want to push the players buying books, since there are so many more of them?
Maybe. But do you really think nerfing hypnotic pattern will make all of them not buy the books. Most players are not optimizers. If the book is nice overall and will provide a better experience, this is a deciding factor.

While the revised Blade Ward sounds a little iffy for full casters (assuming it's still only castable on self), it sounds like a much more interesting option for martials taking the Magic Initiate origin feat. Or, put another way, it makes Magic Initiate a more interesting origin feat choice.

Except for barbarian, because screw magic.

I don't know what the title of the video was, or I'd put it here.
I don´t see spells you have to refer to. So how did you come to your conclusion?

Still handy for any melee with access to Cantrips. -1d4 is so good it's almost certainly worth a Feat if you're higher-AC melee who isn't otherwise using Concentration (Fighter, for example), might even be worth a 1-level dip for some builds.

Yeah, I'm thinking it would be really nasty on an Eldritch Knight or an Arcane Trickster, especially before level 5 when the blade cantrips aren't giving extra damage to the primary strike.

Most people notice cool thing they use and like not being as cool in new book.

And then they notice all the other spells which are now also cool and admit that the one spell they used over and over again, is still good enough. And they are happy, that it is not spam the same spell over and over again anymore.
Not in my experience. The thing taken away hurts a lot more.
