Also, on the internet thing, I took it to mean that they used some sort of distributed attack on the firewall using computers on the net, kinda like a DDoS, and thus it would be somewhat hidden by the focus on the broadcast. Perhaps even using the broadcast, which many people would have been watching, to get into people's computers somehow and use processing power to attack the firewall.

Yes, that's how I understood it, but such an attack would be detectable by any 5$ firewall. If you get DDoS'd, you know it, because there's a huge increase in traffic. What I'm saying is that someone at those plants should have noticed the attack. Maybe the plant operator thinks it's an isolated incident; I don't know, maybe they'll reveal something like that in the next few episodes.

As for the insider:
I hadn't thought of her working for the contractor; at least that would be a bit different than the usual "insider-mole-working-for-the-terrorists" thing...
