"Soulpatch"? What does "soulpatch" mean and why is it used in reference to Tony? I've seen it used over at AICN, too.

Colour me bewildered.

It refers to the little bit of facial hair under his lower lip. Not really a beard...not a goatee.

It's a soulpatch. I had never heard of the term until 24 came around. It became a popular nickname for Tony, and then he shaved it in the next season...much sadness occured. But now he has returned, soulpatch in tact, and there is much rejoicing.

Yeah, even games such as City of Heroes let you customize your character's face with the Soulpatch. Heh. Gotta say, both me and the GF threw our arms up in the air when Tony appeared. "YES!!" I'd say he was one of my favorite characters from the show, but then again I like a lot of 'em.

I'm really ticked off at CNN for posting a slight spoiler a few weeks back... (spoiler below)

...when they announce Dennis Haysbert (president Palmer) would be reappearing for the last third of this season. Now I wonder if they planned it all along, with the way they 'removed' a lot of characters from last season.

When the first season of 24 came out Television without pity/remorse, (can never remember which it is) named all the characters nicknames, so Tony was Soulpatch. Michelle was something less nice that rhymed with Mitchelle, Sutherland is the Velvet Tongue? then you had Terror Daddy and other stuff.

the new TV Guide has a not-so-good story on 24... apparently, muslim groups are offended by the Iranian woman who kills Debbie and then chastizes her son for not killing her himself. They feel this is stereotyping muslims as terrorists again. Apparently, the writers are going to fiddle with their future plans and lessen the stereotyping a bit. WHile I certainly don't want blatant offensive stereotyping to be on TV, I have to wonder why the first 3 seasons had Balkans terrorists and noone complained about that....

It's political correctness rearing its ugly head again. You have to understand that these days, the only socially-acceptable bad guys are white males of European descent. If the bad guys are made up of any other ethnic group, people will start screaming "stereotyping" and "racism."

Heck, it dosen't even have to be human villians for people to take offense; just look at all the people who claimed that the Star Wars prequels and the Lord of the Rings movies had racist undertones.

But anyways...

Tony's back, yeah! Cool decision by the writers, although one has to wonder just how he managed to reach Jack so quickly; it couldn't have been more than 5 minutes from the time that Jack made the phone call until Tony arrived. :uhoh:

I have often heard commentary on how easily people in this show seem to get around in Los Angeles. They almost never seem to encounter any traffic! Ah well, suspension of disbelief.

I'm just thinking that terrorists should have learned by now: Don't try to pull off any plans in L.A.!! Go to Texas or somewhere safer where there is no CTU office...
