[sblock=OOC]Escaping a grab 1: can we shift to or through tentacle squares if we succeed on an escape?
2. Garrick can shift 3 squares (power). Could he escape by shifting through t23 into L13 and then attack DM3?
3. Aiding another with strength test is what kind of action - Move, standard etc?
I'm off to bed now and have some work to do tomorrow so can't post for another 12-14 hours or so[/sblock]

[sblock]
1-You can move through but no to. So in Garrick's situation, he can't shift after a successful escape check because he has nowhere to go. But if he succeeds on the first try, he'll have a move left to get out of here.

2-No. You are grabbed, you can't shift or move (until you succeed an escape check). You could slide (or be slid, pushed and pulled) and teleport.

3 - Standard action. And you are not aiding (as in, giving a +2), you are doing all the work. If your STR attack (no weapon bonus) beats 16, you pull the target away.

[sblock=OOC]Strange! I'm sure I already posted but it don't seem to be here.[/sblock]

Garrick tried to use his nimbleness to escape from the tentacles but their hold was too constricting. Instead he hurled one of his shuriken at the nearby monk. The vicious star thudded home although it didn't do as much damage as the tiny rogue hoped for.

Nathan tries to grab Garrie out of there, but he cannot find a good hadnle on the rogue, so he decide to go deeper into the corridor, and turn into the chamber. "How are you faring, Dagran?"

[SBLOCK=OOC]Grab: Grab Garrie (1d20+1=11)

Move Action: move to H17[/SBLOCK]

"A few thorns in the feet. nothing we can't handle for now, but those guys are pretty annoying. We are running out of time and we must hurry!" replies Nathan.

[sblock]Garrick did 12 hp of damage. You forgot +2 from the magic weapon, I expect. You also forgot the -2 to attack from dim light but the attack still hit.

Well, I will run Barrion and Mirage for this round since it has been a while.[/sblock]

Barrion runs up next to the retreating death machine and sees between the blades the dire situation of his colleagues. Invoking the powers of his fey bloodline he swaps place with Leyra, freeing her and finding himself caught by the tentacle in her stead. Of course, he is confident he'll be able to get out of there before the blades catch him thanks to his teleporting prowess.

Incidently, his sunrod now lights the corridor and washes away the approaching darkness. It uncovers a fifth monk and a mean looking hound that oozes darkness. Even with the sunrod, the beast is washed in shadows.

[sblock]Moves to J5, fey switch with Leyra. Curses DM3. Hopefully Garrick will succeed his next acrobatic check, his odds are much higher than Leyra's would have been.
[/sblock]

Mirage also follows the machine and sees the newcomers at the end of the tunnel and waits for his opportunity to slip passed the blades into the upcoming side corridor and remains ready to attack.

[sblock]I was really tempted to use Mirage's last daily since it had a range of 20 and was the only power he had that could have reached the two Monks (2 & 4). But I figured using the last daily of a PCs while controlling him was a little extreme...[/sblock]

The agents caught in the coils of shadows feel their energy drains away.

The monk in the locker room, urged on by Nathan's Aegis, chase after him.

Barrion VS AC 22 (1d20+11=16, 1d8+5=9)
Garrick VS AC 22 (1d20+6=16, 1d4+2=3)

He skillfully dodges and reach Nathan, attacking him with the dreaded gloom fist.

Gloom Fist (1d20+12=22, 1d6+4=10, 1d6=4) misses, recharge

The monk facing Dagran takes a chance and steps back and skillfully dodge the dwarf's attacks.

Dagran VS 22 (1d20+12=14, 2d6+8=15)

He then conjures a tentacle of shadow behind the dwarven fighter that grabs the fighter.

Tentacle (1d20+10=26, 1d6+3=9)

[sblock]Remember that you can shift 1 square after a successful escae attempt and that an escape attempt is a move. So if you succeed on the first try, you can still attack the monk.

Also, Your encounter power was used to reduce damage from 9 to 1.[/sblock]

The two monks in the corridor advance and throw ghostly shurikens at Garrick and Nathan, cathcing both.

Garrick;Nathan (1d20+10=23, 2d4+3=7, 1d20+10=26, 2d4+3=5) vs reflex

Finally, the hound and his handler surges forward. The monk moves in the corridor while the hound moves inside the ritual chamber and teleports past Dagran and his tentacle. Suddenly, it becomes completely dark in the ritual chamber, to Nathan and Dagran's dismay.

The beast let outs a frightful wail that chills them to the bones.

Dagran,Nathan vs Will (1d20+8=14, 1d20+8=19, 1d6=6) Power recharges

Dagran grits his teeth but Nathan is severely shaken.

[sblock=Hound stat]First of all, there is an aura of darkness around the hound that decrease the light by one level. So the corridor, which should now be in normal light for 20 square is reduced to dim light withing 5 square of the hound as his aura exits through the corridor and stops the diffusion of the light. And area that are in dim light (such as inside the the chambers) are now fully dark, affecting Nathan and Dagran. Note that the monks aren't supernaturally able to see in full darkness either.

As Nathan is strike by the monk, he immediatly replicate with a slash of his sword, which become as cold as ice. He slices through teh monk defence like in butter, giving him a serious wound.

Nathan teleport between Monk 3 and 5 and then slash again with his sword, charged with electricity. He strike at the monk being sure of hitting him, but he saw teh monk dodging too late because of the poor light.

Seeing surrounded by opponent and none had fallen yet, he quickly charge his sword with a force field that burst around him, striking all his enemy. The monk who has attacked him finally fall.

"Can someone give me a hand here?"

[sblock=Nathan]You can't use Frost Backlash on the Dm3. He missed you when he attacked. That power triggers if you get hit by an adjacent enemy. So you didn't spend that power and that monk didn't lose 19 hp[/sblock]

[sblock=DM Errata]Huh, my bad... There is only one Shadow hound. The one in the ritual chamber in the middle and creating the obvious pool of shadow. I toyed with moving him to to J17 but didn't and forgot to erase him from that spot... Sorry about that. I edited the maps[/sblock]
