3.5 D&D or really 4.0!!!

Hey, please prove me wrong, but having to buy a whole new set of core rule books and making the majority of my ofiicial material geared for 3rd Ed, obsolete, is a new EDITION! :)

2nd Ed AD&D was a refinement of 1st Ed AD&D and released the Optional rules. Then 3rd Ed D&D came along and merged all the "better?" of the 2nd+optional. Now 3.5 Ed is susposed to be a refinement of 3rd???? Come on call a spade a spade. :D

4th Edition is here! Better, stronger, than all previous....now when will 5th Edition D&D be coming out, maybe after the "optional rule books" are released for 4th (3.5) Edition?

2ed had Skills and Options was that 3rd edition?

Call a spade a spade, 3.5 is very very very very similar to 3.0, which is probably why it isn't 4.0.

Oh and for the umpteenth time, you know full-well you didn't "have" to get 3.5. You wanted it, you got it, it ain't 4.0.

3.5 is definitely not 4th edition. It's far more similar to 3.0 than 2e was to 1e or 3e was to 2e, or even the Players' Option books were to "straight" 2e.

I suspect strongly that a group can play 3.5 if only the dm has the 3.5 books and the rest have the 3.0 books.

Your books aren't obsolete. Changing them over will take about 10 minutes, and you don't even need to do so. Try using MM2 with 3.5 and see how much trouble you have.

Now try using any 2e monsterous compendium monster with 3.5 and see how much luck you have.

See the difference? It's not a new edition.

Checking books for obselence

I just spent all day checking my various d20 books to see what type of changes I will have to make for 3.5.

Out of all my books (I admit only about 20 or so) the only ones I will no longer be using are the PHB (3.0), DMG (3.0) and the Monster Manual (3.0). I have concerns about the Psionic Handbook and Epic Level Handbook, but thats it. There will be of course a spell here and a feat there that will need changing type stuff but not more then 5% of any one book as far as I can tell.

Nothing Like when changing from 1st to 2nd where all of the old books became almost useless.

Like Garmorn above I've noticed that many of my books, and I have a few mnore then he does, really need much altering. In fact the Wizards books are most likely the ones that need help.

It's been said before, but it's true. It's closer to 3.0 than it is 4.0. In my hopes, 4.0 will change the spell casting system.

I really wish that Wizards didn't put "3.5" on the revised books. It makes them look like AOL.

Cheers!

I think it's more appropriate to call it "Third Edition, Revised", since that's really all it is: a revision of Third Edition.

Well, the books themselves say 3.5 so I'll stick with that. :D
