3.5 D&D or really 4.0!!!

ARGH!!

I'm really getting sick and tired of all this 3.5e bashing. If you don't like the books, don't buy the damned things! If you don't have anything more important to say than "3.5e Sucks!" or "3.5e is actually 4e!" then go and join up with another group of people who aren't talking about progressive D&D. If you want to support the game, but are offended because some self-righteous game designer dared to transmogrify YOUR precious boots-of-speed-wearing paladin who can't possibly have HIS PALADIN WARHORSE DEMATERIALIZE AFTER 12 HOURS OF USE!!!

Oh? What's that? You hate the fact that sorcerers and wizards have their Spell DCs lowered because of the new versions of Spell Focus? Their feats aren't as powerful? I guess they'll have to actually fail most of the time! Hate to see them be as supportive-in-role as the bard! What's that? Too many changes? They should have saved it for 4e? Yeah, you're right... To not correct anything at the nearest convenient time is the logical assumption with all products. Hate to see those people have to use a ranger class that doesn't come from Jimmy's Way-KEWL Webpage of D&D MODS...

Hey, he's right, I DON'T have to buy the new books or play the new version!

Well.... wait a second... since I play in Living Greyhawk, I guess I sort of DO have to. It's not like they'll be using 3.0 anymore.

So yeah, I AM being forced to buy 3.5 and play it, so YEAH I'm allowed to be a bit chessed off at that!

:o Here's something, why don't we make a place for people to voice there opinions/views/arguments in a constructive/mature manner (aside from some sarcasium), and call it a... forum?

Wow! Looky here, its a forum! (dripping sarcasium :D )

To anyone who cares to read this, then think about what is being said...and not said. ;)

This is, I believe, an informative statement when I, me, myself, decides to bitch about how WotC tries to conceal the idea that this is not a new edition of D&D, but an revision of the rules. Hello? Am I and the few who have seen it the only ones? Revised rules for better play? Enough of a change to warrent a new set of core rules to be issued. Gee, that sounds like another Edition to me. Come on! Compare it to 1st AD&D revised enough to warrent 2nd Ed AD&D, enough similarity to use some of the 1st Ed stuff with conversion notes to "help you along into the 2nd Ed AD&D. The similarities between this and 3rd Ed to 3.5 Ed (aka 4th Ed)is there. There is NO, I repeat! No bashing about the 3.5 Ed rules released, if anything, its nice to see some of those changes. The issue is it should be called 4th Edition D&D! A very trivial, but debateble topic. Yes? Of course this is only my opinion in a forum where one can present thier views. :D

If you don't agree....Great! Give an informative reason. If you do agree, then I get to smile. Yaaa :D Convince me differently. I'm good for it. I will admit the rules differences are not as drastic in comparison to the 1st to 2nd Ed's, but there is relevance and enough change to make it a consideration that yes, it might just be referred to as a 4th Edition of the D&D system. So stop getting your underwear in knott! Please.

Cheers! :D

I make my peace with Pelor, and say that if the almighty Lords of WotC (who slave to the HASBRO Masters), deem it as 3.5 Ed D&D then....

...they truely are slaves to the Masters! for they fear to stand up and call it by its rightful name...

4th Ed D&D (please note how if you hold shift and press the 4 what symbol actually comes up, oh ya! the money sign! Show me the money!

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

For I to, who plays Living Greyhawk also, HAVE conformed...and besides its always nice to have that "new" book feel and smell.

I'm done.

:D

Something about these threads that crack me up is like a moth to flame someone who is so sick of these types of threads appears and posts their disproval. They know it is a rant thread, they know it will bug them, they know this but still they read, and their blood boils and almost against their will they begin typing and hitting the dread "post" button.

so funny,*I suffer from this as well*

One statement that kinda chaffs my hide is the whole "you dont have to buy 3.5" bunk. See I doubt WOTC wants you to feel that way. Wizards is smart, they provide the SRD so if you dont want to you dont have to buy 3.5 right now, you can peruse the SRD, hopefully get comfortable with the changes and decide to bite the bullet and buy the books.

The last thing they want is for people "not to buy it" because if one doesnt buy 3.5, the likelyhood of said people buying any future D&D products drops signifigantly. TSR did the same thing with 2e, TSR focused on products a lot of people didnt like, lost their confidence, and watched as people left the hobby.

I would be careful throwing around such statements, Peter Adkinson may not be in a position to save D&D if Hasbro decided it was a fruitless venture and pulled the plug, or if say it sells it to Games Workshops and GW procedes to GWize it.

Some people are going to be wary about the change, wariness can be a good thing, it can keep people and companies honest.
If tommorrow all gasoline was reformalized to work better in new cars, but would correspondingly not work so well or possibly not at all in exsisting cars, you would probably want some long explanations for why this change was needed, and would probably be rather cross if you felt it didnt benefit you.

Frankly a lot of people,(and I appoligize to Eric's Gma if this offends) make Asses of themselves spewing forth invective spite over other people's (legitamate) concerns. How about if you love 3.5 and cant stand any questioning of it, you instead of declaring "you dont have to buy it"

simply dont read the thread.

I might make a sig saying YOU DONT HAVE TO READ THE THREAD.

Seems that 2nd Ed AD&D was the most popular and played RPG during that time. 3rd Ed was believed and still is by many that it was a way to pick up sales for WotC for its new HASBRO masters. You can't really sit there and say I didn't play AD&D because of "whatever" and 3rd Ed is what "made" me play D&D.

Of course I can sit here and say 3e made me play D&D. Our group hated and ridiculed 2e. All the unnecessary restrictions and inconsistencies made it unplayable for us. 3e was much better and my players liked it very much. There. Pray tell why it isn't really so.

And du'h 3e was a way to pick up sales. By making it more popular, by making it better. Maybe you're confusing means and ends here, but I really don't care why they did it. I got one hell of a good game, which 2e wasn't.

I suppose you don't like your veggies either.

Well, I rather eat meat if given the choice, but what on earth that has to do with D&D?

I dare someone to step up and say they had a lousy time playing 2nd Ed AD&D, if you do then where do you get off by saying 3rd Ed is sooo much better, when "within 3 years" they have to have the core rules released. So much for the "thousands of hours of play testing". :(

The time when WotC decides to revise the rules has nothing to do with how much I enjoyed 3e. And I continue to use my 3e books, thankyouverymuch.

But, I digress, I am willing to admitt that there are improvements and they where needed, "if" one was to remain current with the evolution of the game.

Still, if that is so, then it's evolutionary scale would still be around an ape and a ways to go before we reach a homo-sapien-sapien equivalent. Wow! That would be many more Revised Editions for D&D, wouldn't it? Maybe I should wait for the 100th Edition before I decide that I can have some fun with the game!

Or, you could get to your senses and just play the edition you like.

My apologies for the sarcasium, but I get fired at the idea that someone would use the excuse that they didn't play AD&D because 3rd Ed D&D was what they were waiting for?

I wasn't waiting for 3e to play the game. How could I, since I didn't know they were making 3e? I was forced to wait because 2e sucked so bad. If they had made 3e like they did 2e (minor changes, same mess of rules as 1e) I'd still be waiting. Not consciously waiting,, but just not playing D&D at all.
