Anyone else hearing 'Riverdance' when they look at that centaur?
Well, I have to say that on a generic scale, these look quite well done, and indeed will fill the niche for pre-painted figs for folks not interested in painting their own.
Hell, they deserve to game with painted miniatures too.
However I'd surely plead for a better looking centaur figure. I've drawn them, and yes you have to know humanoid/animal anatomy well, but that thing is positively embarassing.
No musclature to speak of at all (Might be the photo, granted, and the GLOT of paint they put on it). The stance makes him look a little odd, the hind legs are MUCH to thin at the first joint to support the bulk of weight of the body, and note the right arm's elbow seems.. Uh.. A bit too thin, like it has been squeezed or something.
It is SO hard to find a good centaur figure. The chainmail one was the first good one I had found since Ral Partha's original line. I'm not a carver, so its likely that these things are so mindlessly hard to carve.. Either that, or the artists are too focused on Elves to know what to do with a duo-anatomy creature.
Damn ogres are big..
