I left him an 'out' for speaking normally.
It's not a problem for me, I can understand what you're writing just fine. István simply doesn't know which voice is "normal" for Sindr or why he keeps switching back and forth. He figures its some kind of strange human in-joke that's simply over his head.

I like the accent, actually; reminds me of the way David Eddings wrote (or writes -- I've been out of the loop) some of his more colorful characters. :)

Ultra-busy this weekend folks, so bear with me; our club's booked solid, all the other managers are on vacation, we're voting for a new chairperson for our volunteer group, I'm making preparations for law school, AND I'm putting together a special birthday trip for a friend.
(Plus, I have to figure out how to make this nifty mapping program work for our game, cackle-cackle-cackle :] .) So, bleck. :p Good news is that things get considerably less crazy after a few days, so If I can't get a post up tonight, I'll be sure to have it done tomorrow morning.

Sindr's Chaotic. With a capital C. Not quite an X, but the severity of his accent will shift back and forth most likely. Generally, if he speaks without an accent, it'll be either because he's drop-dead serious (which is unusual for him), or because he wants to be absolutely sure people hear him right (like when he's telling people the password for his alarm); you can assume one or the other based on context even if I don't state so explicitly in the IC thread.

That makes me grin. The Eddingses (his wife, Leigh, co-wrote the vast majority of his early books) are two of my favorite "lite" fantasy authors. I can't say they are a direct inspiration for Sindr, but I'm sure they and LE Modessit are at least partly to blame :p

I've just been trying to keep Heinrich a little formal and archaic, myself. How much I remember to do it tends to vary with how much sleep I've had lately.
That's been coming across clearly I think. For István I'm aiming for rustic old-world romani way of speaking.

For when the time comes, if you folks can let me know what your bed-time preparations are (regarding armor, weapons and the like), that would be wonderbar. Not that your characters have to go to sleep right now of course.

Also:
Ambrus:[sblock] I'm assuming you activated your Gloves of Agile Striking when you attacked the raven-imp? That's the only way I can figure your +5d6 damage into account (+1d6 for Skirmish, +2d6 for empowering Deep Crystal rapier, +2d6 for activating Gloves); in which case, keep in mind you have one more activation for the day.[/sblock]

DireLemming: [sblock]Hang in there, we'll get you hooked back up with the rest of the party soon-ish. Also, the addition of character acquaintances into your background is a nice touch; let me know if I end up role-playing them in a way that totally goes against your original concepts and I'll try to work with that. :) [/sblock]

So far nothing has gone too far from my initial concepts. I didn't picture Lilly as having horns, or being quite so giddy, but that isn't a problem. The only thing I really did picture for her is having all human limbs. As for the others, I don't really have anything to say yet.
