Reapersaurus: I honestly don't know what you mean by the idea of squeezing a bag through the bars being hilarious. Sure, it might sound kind of funny, but if the bag fits, and the person fits, it sounds like a damned good use of available resources to me. It certainly wasn't the only way the party could have escaped, but it worked.
What's this Deadalewives thing? Maybe I can use them for plot research.
more Story Hour than RPG Discussion
And? Do you think that every post in this section is completely on topic and only deals with general RPG discussion? Of course not. I suppose I could have put the first section of my post in the story hour and the question here with a link. But I personally think that's more work than your average poster would want to go through for a thread, and that I'll be more likely to get more responses this way.
As for looking at other threads, I have, and I will again. That doesn't mean that other spells wouldn't be useful as well. I'm looking for tactics, spells, and any other constructive feedback people care to give.
Piratecat: Thanks for the backup. I'm actually getting fairly used to him assaulting me at nearly every post I make, and am more than prepared to turn on my "ignore switch" in my head and just let him do what he wants.
Cloudgatherer: I don't have Magic of Faerun, but I think Dimensional lock was reprinted in Tome and Blood. The Necromancer is 18th level, so 8th level spells are doable. I don't know that dimensional lock is really worthwhile though, as its only a 15' radius, and it is visible. The party would just teleport 30 feet away from her. Screen is definitely a good suggestion though. Thanks!
UD: No story hour right now. I need to combine all my posts into one though I suppose, I just don't have a lot of time for that right now. She's got Power Word, stun and Forcecage. Power word Kill wouldn't be bad, but she'd have to guesstimate correctly after damaging someone, as she knows they'd be immune to it right off the bat. Well, maybe not the sorceror, if she successfully dispelled his endurance.
Taloncomics: At least 2 hours. I wasn't watching the clock, but I know it was a long one. It didn't take as long as it could have though, because I had sat down and laid out a general strategy for the necromancer in advance.
wolfspider: she doesn't need a diviner, most of the scrying defenses aren't divination spells. She also has a fairly high scry skill, just so she'll know when she's being looked at.
Tom Cashel: good one!
bitterman: What is Energy Transformation Field? She can definitely pick the battlefield, simply by remaining where she wants to fight them. if it takes them longer than a few months to attack, she would return (carefully) to travelling around. But knowing my players, it won't take them that long to go after revenge.
What do you mean by shield gaurd? Do you mean a henchman? Or a Shield Guardian from the MM? If its shield Guardian, I don't think she'll have that much cash available, as most of the sorceror's gear she'll keep to use for herself. That would be wrong though. Maybe she could hire a devoted defender?
Up until a while back, when my baby was born, I also played in two totally different games. As I've stated in several threads, my current campaign is high-powered. The next one will be a Core rules only (without special consent) run through Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil. The game after that? Who knows? But high-powered isn't the only style of game I play or run, its just what seems to have gotten reaper's goat. That and apparently my NPCs and plots don't strike him as believable. I guess I shouldn't ever let anything over CR15 die. After all, if you're that powerful, you can't be weak enough to actually get killed. Of course, the party would be over CR15, but he disagrees with resurrection, so I'm kinda confused.
