D&D 4E 4e and save or dies.

Save or die means the monster makes its attack, you make your save, or you die. One die roll is all that stands between you and grease spot status.

4E does not have save or die. Multiple die rolls before dying is not save or die.

Orcus. Bodaks. Nightwalkers.

Would calling it multi-save or die be satisfactory?

How about "three strikes and you die"?

;)

Yes. Or even "cleric casts cure spell or die".

Because, you know, every other source of damage also eventually boils down to "cleric casts cure spell or die".

Indeed. Hong is correct on two counts. There is not a save on Orcus's attack (remember, Fortitude is now a defense, not a save), and it does not make you die (it takes you to 0 and dying, but not dead).

Saying that 4e has "An attack that, if it hits, automatically makes you dying" or "Instant Dying on Hit", would be accurate.
