See, I hate single-element stuff,

like radiant clerics?

From way back the cleric has been one of my least favorite classes because I didn't like how generic they all are.... no wielding there gods favorite weapon or there powers invoking the might of elements associated with that deity just bland hammer using drivel... the 4e version is it better? I have actually avoided looking and since other leaders now work and the cleric's boringness isn't absolutely necessary. I just wonder who is being inspired to heroism by the tenets of the raven queen? umm healing/inspiring and radiant.. ... not necrotic cold and demoralizing enemies?

The 4e laser cleric is painfully generic, yes. And gods help you if you aren't a race with automatic weapon prof and want to be a STR cleric, you lose a feat immediately to feat tax for getting proficiency with a real weapon if you don't want to be all lulz mace. Except, you know, one of those races is pretty much THE worst race for cleric period. (Eladrin. Who have yet to get any support at all for being a cleric, for that matter. Apparently none of them actually worship Corellon formally, they're all too busy being wizards. No, Seldarine Dedicate doesn't really count, because they have to take a frakkin' weapon proficiency feat to be able to take the frakkin' PP.)

And yes, radiant == astral sea blahblah, but really, it is a bit boring.

Especially since STR cleric is supposed to be kind of pants and everyone seems to play Laser Clerics exclusively. A Longsword-wielding cleric of Corellon who fights with said sword is a fairly iconic character, especially if you're in FR and thus following Corellon Larethian, but gods forbid you actually try to play it.

Crap support for obvious character concepts, too damned same-y, yeah, cleric is kind of meh.

All the divine classes are for me really. Paladin has too much baggage, Avenger is kind of 'uh', Invoker is just crappy and pointless, Cleric is boring, and all of this drives me crazy because I love making religious characters, especially priests.

And the cleric surges to the lead.

On one hand, I'm kinda surprised, but on the other hand I can't be given every single other leader was ganked.

Also, I pretty much disgree about Str. or balanced clerics being useless. Sure, you may pay a 1 tax feat (not really that important in the long run), but you have a better at will, more options than a straight laser cleric, and can preform as a secondary defender if needed. You also help the party by spreading the damage out amongst the front line, something I love about melee leaders, thus leading to longer adventuring days.

I generally assert they are boring as mud and fail to achieve/enable their flavorful potential ... not much more...(nothing useless about em)
I have no general issues with leaders as a role ... And kind of like the idea of Poets, Priests and Patricians with words to thank for their positions, inspiring and invigorating the heroic to tap in to reserves of courage and energy!! yeah cool doesn't even have to be that magical.

Since the cleric has also been voted off, the eulogies will now be done by the sorcerer.

The Cleric has sadly now left us. This hurts me deeply, you know. The Cleric and I go way back. We had a history, unlike some others who only just came onto the scene. We made a good pair, a good contrast, like night and day, or yin and yang. He was always the healing, selfless one, while I was the one dealing damage and grabbing all the glory. But, let us look on the bright side. There are still several other selfless guys still in the running. The spirit of the Cleric lives on in them, if you know what I mean.
