Considering that the wizard has probably taken more :):):):) than any other class (especially during the first 6-8 months of 4e), I am very happy to see it ranked in the top 5.

I think it took a lot of that (emoticon elided) because of its popularity. People had very high expectations, in contrast to the Fighter, which went from unplayable to pretty darn good.

keep in mind that accessibility plays a factor in whether someone knows enough to want to be interested in a class.

Thus, the PHB1 classes are the most widely available (been out the longest and i would guess more people have the phb1 than any other rulebook)

Whereas, of all the rulebooks that have classes, I'd imagine the fewest people have the eberron players guide only because a) it is setting specific and b) it hasn't been out as long as any of the other rulesbooks represented in this list.

It's amusing to see that most of my personal favorites are ranking either near the bottom of this poll or near the top of it. very little of what i voted for is 'the middle ground' ;) But, as said when i voted, i pretty much can enjoy playing them all under different circumstances/reasons/etc.

Good idea. I think the difference in outcomes so far is quite instructive (and not because all of the results agree with my own preference).

I have played only Fighter and Cleric (in pbp)
I would still like to play avenger, bard, sorcerer and warden.

I used the NPC warlock for 1/2 of H2 when I was running it.
She changed out her powers cause the group needed a pseudo defender - -
NPC hit points and armor of agathys worked just fine on the frontline.
One of the Pcs played a warlord, and made it look dull, while another made the best of a rogue - blade vault, riposte strike, and looking forward to tornado path.

Many of the others look interesting with only a few that I wouldn't want to play : (Shaman, Barbarian, Ranger)
