now i am even more confused, if this is "re-writes" of a 3.5e feat, with nothing to do with 4e, why is it in the 4e forum? If it is going to be in the 4e forum shouldnt it at least take the limited knowledge we have about 4e into account?

This is actually a good point. The original contest was posted in this forum and I believe Najo wanted to keep things consistent. Plus, the prizes are 4E books and the idea had it's genesis in a blog post made about design direction in 4E. So it's sort of related.

I chose B because it basically is the opposite of Combat Expertise. You deal extra damage at the expense of defense, which applies to all attacks that round.

Choice A - only gives a benefit without any drawbacks. Plus, it is mainly for weapons wielded 2-handed. Why would a ftr NOT take this feat?
Choice C - is basically rage - but more powerful as it can give greater bonuses at higher levels, without the drawbacks of being winded or fatigued.
Choice D - you make a single attack, but can combine with charge. a melee fighter cannot make a full action with this feat. Or lose all subsequent attacks. So this is only good for low level fighters, or finesse fighters, or the first hit in combat where you charge in. You cant use it in subsequent rounds where you duke it out

That is true too.

Variant A is nice and clean - I would need to test it or do a few calculations to see whether its balanced, but the simplicity of it is appealing.

While we are at it, I might as well post my submission here, since the contest is over. Perhaps some people might find it useful or interesting:

POWER ATTACK (GENERAL)
You can make exceptionally powerful melee attacks.
Prerequisite: Str 13, base attack bonus +6.
Benefit: When taking the full attack action, before making attack rolls for a round, you may chose to forgo your last iterative attack and add +5 to one of your melee damage rolls (this will usually be the first melee damage roll).
Special: A fighter may select Power Attack as one of his fighter bonus feats (see page 38).

I would also enjoy seeing the submissions from others involved in the contest. If you could also post them here that would be great!

It would be alot of work to post all of them. I could post some other runners up. Lets let the poll finish out first.

Lets keep the poll bumped too.
