D&D 4E 4e Core Gods

I decided - an human Cleric of Ioun with perhaps multiclassing or that 'training' thing with Wizard, a nerdy young scholar type of guy. X3 That will be my first character.

Apollo and Helios managed to get along. So did Ares and Athena, as did Hermes and Iris.

Funny you should bring that up...

See the thing is the historical Pantheons are not as homogeneous as most people think of them. Most of them are in fact conglomeration of regional dieties that over time where homgenised into a single pantheon.

Apollo and Helios actually show this very well with Apollo even being known as Apollo Helios at certain times.

The history of Athena - not even originating with the Olympian pantheon further underscores this issue.

However the DnD Pantheon is being created wholecloth, and as such the idea of direct conflict over a primary portfolio is silly. Conflict over lesser portfolios on the other hand makes plenty of sense.

The issue is right now we don't even know what the primary portfolios are for all the gods, and different sources provide conflicting evidence.

I had an idea this morning on the way to work...

I'm going to kill one core god, and replace him/her with Asmodeus. There will still be Asmo, but he will also secretly own one other god. It'll be up to the players to find out which!
