D&D 4E 4e Gestalt - Elite Heroes

Classes frequently seem to need some of those skills if you only have 3 skills from 2 very different classes I don't see how you will "feel right".... the Gestalt fails so to speak. Getting a single bonus skill maybe even 2 would seem to fix that, maybe I am missing something would this make them noticeably more powerful than currently?

What about expanding the rules to allow the characters to pick one class twice? This will keep the option of a single class character alive, while allowing the power level needed for these rules. I like the idea of a wizard that is just a wizard, and these rules don't get at that perfectly. Otherwise, I like them.

There's no reason you couldn't apply the rules as they are to a single class. You get 4 at-wills (5 if you're human, so I'd suggest looking in another book or thinking of one). 2 encounters and 2 dailies. The bump in stats ensures you have the extra stat since most classes have two builds you'd be blending into. Wizard specifically, i'd suggest taking toughness since you'll still only have 10+con hit points. All other rules are as they should be.

I just came across this, and I have to say it sounds like a really awesome idea! I occasionally want to run a game with just the two of my siblings, but having to play characters in addition to the monsters is overwhelming, and they can't handle two characters. I think they might be able to grasp the complexity of a double character, and that will make the game more fun for the smaller group. Thanks!

Action Points - allow gestalt to spend two per encounter (but once per round). Also, it might be good to have a milestone occur after every encounter instead of every two.

What about just giving out two encounter, daily and utility powers per level, and giving one set of multiclass feats for free? Then at paragon, allow paragon multiclassing simultaneously with a paragon path. That works fine.

I'd also give out an action point for each encounter and extra hp, maybe just add together the hp per level from their class and the class they are MC'ing in.

Elite Characters

You might try the following simple idea -- Apply a monster template (in particular one of the class templates) found in the Dungeon Masters Guide.
An Elite character is approximately 4 levels more powerful than a standard one.

We decided to start at 6th level with 2 players... and hope for the best because we like character builder and if we luck in to more players its not such a stretch... to up the encounter levels.

New Version

Yay for thread necromancy!

After further refinment, these rules have been updated, and some new features have been added. Also, certain rules were clarified for better game balance.
