D&D 4E 4e Iconics?

Valthrun the Prescient, a character from the first adventure (he had no stats) also gives quotes in Monster Vault.

I hear he was featured in Dragon Magazine.

I believe Melech Ambrose has also been featured in a few areas, and a few of the named villains in Threats to the Nentir Vale should probably be considered "iconic" too (eg a few were featured as mid-bosses in some of the first adventures).

It would be best for iconic characters to, as much as possible, arise from fan response, rather than as a prescribed thing. I haven't read the novels in awhile, but if they're actually producing truly memorable characters who are actual fits for classes in the game (and not cheeze-level monsters like Drizzt or Elminster), they could filter in from time to time.

I wrote a pitch for an article like this. Stating up old game Iconics, and maybe even using them as a example for build suggestions on the various archetypes they represent. WoTC stated they weren't interested in digging up the past of the game.... Go figure considering all the marketing speak about the past of the game we get from L&L

I was going to say Jim Darkmagic, but someone beat me to it T^T
The Critical Hit Podcast crew are pretty popular...I think.

I'd be interested in a suite of starter characters converted from the past editions as an article, definitely. You know, I wouldn't mind the creation of new iconics in articles, either. Maybe that should be the next creature competition, fan-made iconics then voted on the site.
