D&D 4E 4E in Car-speak: "No Sale"

In my mind, I'm not so sure I like the "improvements" I see going into this car.

To continue the analogy (and only the analogy), I'm no gearhead but I'm not averse to tinkering. But for every feature I see that I like on the WotCmotors 2008 car lot, I'm seeing something I feel a visceral need to tear out for scrap.

I will have this car in my collection- I've already preordered it. However, it may well be one that gets to sit around and gather dust while my current primary ride gets taken out for my daily spin around the block. Heck, at this point, I can't even see it supplanting some of my other cars that I don't get to drive that often, like my HEROwerks 5 series.

Doesn't matter about the car, its the destination baby.

As long as it gets me to point A and B in a reasonable amount of time, I'm down with that.

*Most non gearhead ever car analogy*

I need a new car, cause the old one rusted out on me and the loose suspension finally gave way.

Luckily the same car company has produced a brand new car just right for getting me from point A to point B.

I have a garage with a lot of different cars in there and depending on the mood I'm in and where I need to go I might choose a different car for a particular trip.

D&D is one of my favourite brands, they've brought out a lot of good cars over the years and I have several of them in my garage.

Now though they're bringing out the 4e model and after reading a few reviews I've decided not to buy one just yet. They're using an engine type I don't like and while I could try to replace some of the parts with custom-made or older edition parts I'm not sure how compatible they will be with the new model.

It's a bit dissapointing to hear that all the optional extras being brought out from now on will be designed specifically for the new model, but I understand that it's the direction the company has chosen to go for.

Still, I'm pretty sure I'm a good enough mechanic to keep my old model running, I can trade custom parts with other old model enthusiasts and maybe redesign some of the new model's parts to fit into my old car.

I buy used and drive it into the ground before I trade up. I also don't know enough about how to take care of it so I pay others to do it for me. I am, however, waiting for the next big thing*. I just don't think the current "next big thing"** is quite it.

We are talking about sex, right?

*at the risk of mixing my metaphors, I'll just say that on the car side I'm waiting for the long-fabled plug-in hybrid.

*the current "next big thing" being the standard hybrid.

I pre-ordered the 4E books on Amazon, and I can't wait to read them...

But there is no way I'm trading in my car, man. Sorry...no sale.

Umm... minor point. You bought the books. That's a "yes, sale".

Mazda makes nice cars. I drive an RX-8. The rotary has its quirks but I like it. Though, I'm thinking about trading it in for an EVO X. Just have to convince my wife... ;)

Mazda really does make nice cars. Even my friend's stripper 3 is a really fun and tossable little car. Hell, the only reason why I didn't think about buying a RX8 was my British sports car born aversion to any mention of ever having to top off oil.
