Isn't there a guideline in the DMG about not modifying a monster by more than 4 levels? Oh its by 5 - so the descetran and hexer are still in the range.

I should have advanced Will to a level 9 minion - it didn't even occur to me.
those 25 xp just went unspent.

that's +2 to hit and defenses,+ 1 dmg he could have been a contender!
okay maybe not, actually raising the Angel's level by 1 would have been a smarter team, but it lacked the style and comic relief of a human lackey (it also did not occur to me, until now)

I am looking at everyone's team, and thinking, if I survive vs. the white dragon, there is NO way I can hit anyone else...
 

You do have the advantage of numbers on everyone else though, which means (theoretically) more crits ;)

I know what you mean, though. I thought about going with a horde, but felt that higher attacks and defenses would be more advantageous. I guess we'll see whether I was right or not ;)
 

I was going to go with a lvl 18 soldier (Fire Giant) with the 2,000 XP, AC 34, F 34, R 38, W 28. He would have been a b*tch to hit as even a level 9 solo white dragon(2,000xp) only has +12 to hit AC, +10 vs. Ref, or +10 vs. Will. So it would only hit 5% of the time.

The highest monster is the destrachan I believe (lvl 14) and it would hit aroun 30% of the time against the Giant. But it would have been pretty damn boring.
 

I think the destrachan is level 15, but yeah. Though my mind flayer would hit the fire giant with mind blast about 50% of the time ;)

I thought about taking a single lvl 14 elite for the whole 2000, or just two lvl 14's, but again ... it would be horribly boring. And hey, if someone happens to peg that one monster's weakness, you're pretty hosed.
 

I had thought about with just going with a high level regular monster, but decided it was kind of lame. I'd rather have lots of neat powers to play around with, than some walking brick.

In other news, I never realized fire giants were so nimble.
