Awesome, I just love it. :D

Seriously. I was at work the day they released the "sexy shoeless god of war" strip, and when I read the climax I, literally, jumped to my feet and shouted "WHAT THE F--- YOU GOT NOW, XYKON?!" Fortunately for me, my boss reads it too, and understood.

Amazing, all these years I've figured him for a rogue. He doesn't cast too many ranger spells, now does he?

I think this came up at one point in the cartoon. He would need Wis 11+ to cast spells, and Belkar being Belkar, signs are he has low wisdom. He can't remember he can track either, focusing entirely on killing skills like the homicidal halfling that he is.

Hmm... if Rich flips things right with PH1, it's probably...

V: Eladrin Wizard (new race, still indeterminate gender)

Or Rich could be mean and go with

V: ? Wizard (still indeterminate gender, now indeterminate race as well!)

I hope Rich does the conversion "in" the strip. There's just so much material ripe for comedy.

But I recall an interview (or maybe it was commentary in one of the books?) about how he tries to limit the amount of D&D humor, because only a small percentage of his readers play D&D. And only a small percentage of them know enough about the rules to "get" the jokes about the more rules lawyery bits. That's why those jokes are more often the muttered unboxed text, and not the main punchline of the strip.

Anyway, I think (based on how I feel the off-camera PLAYERS of the characters would choose):

Roy = Fighter/Warlord
V = Wizard
Belkar = Rogue (assuming 4E fixes the "primary reason to play ranger is to get TWF for free" thing)
Haley = Rogue/Ranger (assuming 4E doesn't fix the "primary way to play an archer is take ranger levels" thing)
Elan = Warlord (hahaha!)
Durkon = Cleric

Warlord is the class that Roy always wanted, I think.

V will continue to be a wizard, certainly. I rather like the idea that his/her race will be uncertain.

Durkon will still be a cleric.

Haley might become a Ranger, or at least a Rogue with Ranger training or a Rogue/Ranger multiclass.

I honestly imagine that Elan will be a Rogue in the interim, with Rogues taking the Swashbuckler's stuff.

I have no clue about Belkar. Maybe he will be a Fighter now (who refuses to defend others?).

I imagine there will at least be a passing reference to the Dragonborn in some capacity. Beyond that, I can't guess.

While the strip is a lot of fun, I find the writer/illustrator rich to be really annoying. Hi sposts, when he makes 'em are really full of himself.

Anyhow, we don't yet know about the state of 4E's OGL; so until 4E is OGL'd the strip shall remain 3E.

I don't think Rich uses the OGL to publish the comics. Even if he does, he's not legally obliged to - because it comes under fair use (that's why he's allowed to use mind flayers and other PI).

What exactly does this have to do with anything being discussed here?
