[4e][Paragon] Kombat Kraziness (closed)

Anyone want a heal?

If someone requests an attemped Lance of Faith buff on a target, Lasra can go for it. Otherwise, I was going to Sacred Flame ASc (not quite enough move to hit someone else without using the bonus move action) for another save.

BTW, since the portal closed, should the area to the right of column P be slimed?
Slime? Slime... I don't see any slime on the map... (whistles innocently)

Seriously, I should be putting up a flag that says "pre victim check" and "post victim check" in the thread title.

The PITA from redrawing auras is making me reconsider my own encounters.

Dalamar, Darrak can move a lot more based on the new map.

Curses. I was trying to get Gerold a chance to reengage that mage, but another miss.

I think we're still waiting for Gh and Darrak right?

I know other folks're posting but I don't want to go on to the next round without them.

I think Aeloishi should Twin Strike ASa to finish it off (hopefully), using Archer's Glory if it dies. As far as move actions go, the archer could move south 4 squares after shooting to avoid being caught in a Burst 2 with Jack. IIRC, all of the enemies had been quarried by the battlefield archer ability, so that's +1 to hit (from BA ability) besides the damage. So that's +21/+21 for 1d10+6 per hit and +2d8 on a hit.

I thought ASa recovered from being stunned.

I think Rayex is supposed to be back soon too.

So Aeloshi missed, Gerold and the servitor both rolled natural ones (!) and Lasra also didn't hit with her OAs...

... and the aboleths have swum off... you get 16,800 xp/8 = 2,100 xp.
(the proper xp amount is sorta debatable...)

You can continue to blast them as they swim off (the mucus is gone so anyone within 10 can get to the edge of the pool and get line of sight). The pool terminates in the deep ocean (you can tell when the sunrod you drop in to test the depth pulps).

With the orb destroyed you can force the door at the end of the room and get access to the shrine proper.

Now for some honest truths....

I've had a fantastic time running this and part of me wants badly to continue.

However I think that's impractical.

When I started I'd asked to go first because I wanted to get my round in before "the crunch" came. (I have some big obligations starting up in a few weeks).

Unfortunately the sad truth is that
1. I really don't know 4e well enough to run it quickly (at least not at paragon level). I'd expected to be mid-way through the second encounter by now.
(I was smoking crack... I admit it. There was this bowl, and it was right in front of me, and I picked it up and then next thing you know I though I'd be finishing an encounter every three weeks...)

2. Things I had not envisioned when we started (L4W) are taking up more and more of my time.

Given that we have a lot of people who know the rules better than I, who are have scenarios prepped and ready it seems "logical" to me to stop KK1 now and start someone else's scenario.

I feel pretty bad since everyone put so much effort into their characters and the first fight was pretty annoying (everything being difficult terrain), solo with artifact*, etc.

[sblock=*]I swear it sounded like a good idea when I thought of it. My rationalizations were... uh, interesting. [/sblock]

Pbp by nature runs pretty slowly, especially with vacations and the server problems. Plus I don't think we put in any post frequency requirement at the start.

While I wasn't next up, IIRC, I was considering doing all three of my encounters at the same time. This would also us to go through the scenario in a shorter period of real time, I think. It seems like it'd be pretty simple to have daily resources used in one encouter also be marked off for the others. One hand, this gives a bit of an advantage in that the PCs basically have foreknowledge - someone seeing a hypoethical horde of minions in E3 won't fire off his Lightning weapon against the 12 foes in E1. On the other hand, players don't get to move up the learning curve and practice with their presumeably new characters and as a group.

Do you want us to try to finish off these fleeing guys - ? Should we just pause the game and bookmark the threads for a later revival? Call it quits here?

---------------------------------

I still can't believe that Lasra took some OA. I mean, that's why she has melee weapons, but still.

To be honest, I have two problems with this:

- I didn't used any daylies :( (but this is the problem of saving powers fot the "real" fight)

- And (much bigger...) I don't finished my encounters yet, and I'm next :.-(
I thought I got the time of the next two encounters before starting.

But:I had a blast as long as the encounter lasted. The difficult terrain gave me a great insight how it affects the game. I have a new (dangerous?) love for halfling rangers.
And I made a one halfling charge at the big bad and Belkar lives to tell the tale.

Good work, Graf!!
