D&D 4E 4E PHB Viewing at Games Plus, what we saw

If I'm not wrong, I think humans got a single floating stat. Half-Elf would have one static and then one floating? I don't know if it is that way.

Let's see if someone checked the race stats.

Thalmin,

I notice in the earlier Keep on the Shadowlands thread, you mentioned that the Dragonborn Paladin was equipped with "Heavy Plate" armour. Does this differ somehow from the Plate Armour whose description we've already seen in the Player's Handbook peeks?

If you'll remember from the excerpts, the Equipment one stated that they were now using Keywords to help make the abilities of certain items readily apparent. In this case, it's probably a Keyword that makes it easy to see that it's heavy, and not light, armor.

So we heard enough on the rules, what about the physical product itself? How's the art, layout, etc. Do things seem easy to find? What about the paper stock? There were a lot of complaints on the paper for KotS, is it the same case for the PHB?

Just got home from running the demo game. Fun time, but you'd think I was rolling a d12 instead of d20! Sheeeesh!

I liked the art style (fewer buckles and spikes). Overall presentation very nice. Clean white pages, font and size compact but very readable. Paper stock as we expect from WotC (high quality). I didn't pay attention to the bindings, but they stood up to our tugs-of-war over the books!
Overall layout looked good, though I would have like to see racial feats named on the race pages instead of having to scan the feats lists for "Prerequisite: Elf" and such. Finding things didn't seem too difficult (except for all the "Wait, turn back to that other page! I'm still reading that!") I easily found most things I looked for, the other things may not have been in the book to begin with.
The info I have provide in these posts was after only 10 to 20 minutes of book time per book.
