D&D 4E 4E PHP cover art changed

It was a joke...

Perhaps, but it wasn't one appropriate for these boards.

Folks, there may be a segment of the religious population who thinks D&D may be a bad thing. But, there are non-religious folks who think D&D is a bad thing, too.

Aside from being inaccurate, and limiting our own thinking about the world we have to deal with, repeatedly trying to peg problems on the "religious crazies" tend to make the religious folks who come to EN World very uncomfortable. Doing so jokingly is even worse, as it shows even more disrespect.

So, I ask you - leave the religion out of it. The belief system is not the root problem we face - the fear, ignorance and groupthink are. And casually blaming someone else's religion for our ills is engaging in our own form of groupthink, and is thus not a whole lot better than what they are doing.

Erm the complaints weren't about the female teifling, but the male one, and from foreign distributors. Probably looked too much like a devil so wasn't suitable in some parts of the world where the religious nuts would claim D&D is all about Satan worship.

It's...it's not? But..but..I just reached 8th level!

NO NOT BLACKLEAF!!!!

A bit of cleavage is fine.

Bewbs rock.

Odd because I would have thought that would be more of an issue in the US Bible belt than other countries.

Maybe they've finally answered the clue phone that's been ringing all these years....

I can't believe they didn't go with the Green Dragon Fight scene in the first place. It's a nobrainer.

It's as if they deliberately mixed up the covers to the PHB and the Character Sheets. All they have to do is swap them. Problem solved.

I disagree.

While the GD picture is nice and all, it doesn't show anything specific to 4e. It's just the same generic elf wizard, dwarf in plate mail and human fighter. Attacking a dragon in a dungeon.

Whilst I think you're wrong about the tiefling be "offending" in a particular sense, I do agree with you here. The GD fight scene could really be from almost any edition, and whilst that gives it a timeless charm, the 4E cover should have something 4E on it, like at least a Dragonborn or Tiefling.

That video link sucked. Instead of showing the art---old or new, all we got to see where those fruity flowers on Scott Rouse's jacket. :p
Heh. Seeing all these little bits on different days has given my brain the impression that Rouse only owns that one shirt, and wears it every day.

Emphasis mine. It could still very much fit with the GD picture, as the brand is Dungeons & Dragons.

Too much dragon, not enough adventurer for the PHB cover. If the dragon was background and the adventurers foreground it would be fine.
