D&D 4E 4e Prediction - Devils and Yuggoloths get axed

BTW, when did 'Blood War' appear as a concept? Was it during 2e times?

The Blood War predates Planescape by several years. It first appeared in the 1991 Monstrous Compendium: Outer Planes Appendix, a non setting-specific monster book. It was later elaborated upon in the 1994 Planescape box set (and massively elaborated upon in later Planescape books).

Ah, yes, when they first introduced those silly names – Baatezu, Tanar'ri, and the worst of all comic book names; Yugoloth

…What, is that a cheap fiend made in Eastern Europe that only comes in red and gold?

"Yugoloth" is still a terrible name. I hated it when they introduced it in the "Outer Planes" Monstrous Compendium appendix, and I still hate it.
And "daemon" is any better? It gets continuously confused with "demon".

Wish they'd just ditched the "Baatezu" and "Tanar'ri" crap when they went back to calling them Devils and Demons in 3rd Edition. The sound like names out of Star Trek or something.
Or, you know, names from Infernal and Abyssal languages, perhaps?

But please ditch the crappy "Yugoloth" name at any rate.
Needless to say, I wish they retain it. :)

Why should WoC axe Devils and Yugoloths?
That would mean Less possible Monsters - and that would mean less Monster Books.

Not if they rebrand the devils and daemons (sorry- hate the word yugoloths) as Demons. All arch devils simply become demon lords or princes for example. Lesser/greater devils take their places among the demonic ranks...

Yup, just pulled mine out. There were also the Gehreleths, which were supposed to be easier to summon and didn't have any role in the Blood War.

But they aren't names from Abyssal or Infernal languages, they are names made up to appease the "D&D is satanic crowd" – lame.
Of course; that's the out-of-game explanation! Can't you keep it separate from the in-game explanation?

Nope, never cut the Tree you sit on.

Grrr, Orcus is not a Monster but a Demon Prince. He will be in the Monster Manual, true, but he is still a Demon Prince.
I hope.

You hope? Your the Game Master. No need to hope, its done.
