D&D 4E 4E PrRC ~v2.7~ FINAL UPDATE May 29.08

The PrRC says that lava kills anyone instantly. However, Peter Schaeffer's blog has this excerpt:

Most of the heroes do not consider stealth a forte, but they make the attempt while Bartho and Oleander wait to occupy the ogres if necessary. The ogres are sharp enough to hear the intruders, and their very first action highlights the danger of climbing stairs over an open pit of lava. A large stone strikes Alex and knocks him into the searing liquid stone. Oleander and Barth engage the enemy while Melech and Andraste race to get Alex out of the lava before he burns to death. In the end, Andraste leaps in herself, hurls Alex to shore, and then fey steps to relative safety.

The paladin's Bolstering Strike and Shielding Smite seem to be Cha vs. AC, not Str vs. AC. Not only are the attack bonuses wrong for being Str, but it's highly improbable that an attack will use one stat for accuracy and another for damage.

Quick question -- is this resource going to go away after June 6?

Idle curiousity.

Yes, the Pre-release Rules Compilation will cease to be Pre-release as of June 6. It will not be available after the core books are released, as there would be no way to update it to be accurate just using promotional material.

I'll have to find a new project to keep me occupied...maybe getting that dissertation done would be a good idea ;) .

Good catch, I'll change these for v2.5.
Thanks.

• Lava does not instantly kill (Mindwanderer, quoting Peter Schaeffer’s blog).

In the chart on page 54, you wrote "scalemail", and it is "scale armor". Scalemail is an inaccuracy and a confusing way to describe armor that they happily corrected in the latest version.

Fighters have 3 (KotS)

I think that may simply be an error. They may've intended to give the Fighter an extra language but left it off, for instance. In addition, it contradicts Kathra, who does have four Trained Skills. Also seems odd that every other class gets four Trained Skills (Except for the Ranger and Rogue, who get six), but the Fighter's the only one with three Trained Skills.
