4e Solo Adventures

It appears we have a 4e Solo Adventure coming in Dungeon 173! It is called Dark Awakenings, written by Chris Sims.

I'm very excited about this because there are times that I can't hook up with my players, but I want to play some D&D. Is there anyone else out there who likes the concept of solo adventures? Or would you find adventures for one player and one DM useful?

I know D&D is best played in a group, but playing an occasional solo game sure beats sitting around waiting to play.

Your thoughts?

I would love this as I can regularly get 1-2 players with no issue so this type of design would be cool to see and maybe use as a template for future ideas.

I too love this idea... would have been an awesome way to teach my gf how to play!...

I will actually probably run her through this with a new character just to refresh my DM'ing skills and also to help her learn the game better.

By solo he means "DM and 1 player" I suppose...?

There was an interesting truly solo adventure on 3E GURPS IIRC...

A D&D 4th Edition solo play adventure! Rescue your adventuring party and help the goblin Splug at the same time! Playable as a true solo experience, or with one player and one DM. An adventure for a 1st-level character.

So this is a by-yourself adventure that can be played as a 1DM 1PC game as well. Nice idea.

Actually, I would love to see some adventures for 2 players and 1 DM, along with a chapter on advice for games like this. I know a lot of people that would play more often if there were some spelled out options for playing with a smaller party size.

I know "you just build xp equivalent encounters!" argument, but I am not talking about that. I mean advice on story, pc background, power levels, adventure types, sandboxing, etc... for small parties.

If there were a series of 2-pc adventures that came out, I would buy them in a moment. (that was a grammatically tough sentence, judge accordingly)

Anyways.... I will also watch out for this adventure for curiosity sake. And a big "hi-ho!" for those with a DDI account. ;)
