[4e] The Wolfcrown, Chapter 1

Squeal watches Doren depart to speak to Teach, then shrugs and move to the exit.

Turning to the rest of the group that warforged says "This one hopes that Doren does not do anything too stupid. This one wonders what this Sergeant Hedge knows"

Squeal moves out the door, seemingly uneasy, it's longsword clicks into place and it's other hand hovering near the trident tucked into a scabbard at it's waist.

[sblock=ooc]I'll just assume everyone wants to go talk to Hedge. If not, just say so.[/sblock]

As you ascend the guard towers of the eastern rampart, you can feel the warm morning air. A thin beam of daylight pierces a narrow slit high above you and illuminates the winding spiral stairs.

After several minutes of walking, you finally emerge on the eastern rampart of Castle Hood, which doubles as the eastern wall of Black Lake Proper. A few meters away, a man in heavy armor and loosely holding a pike stands looking out across the vast, scenic landscape of the east. With his back turned on you, he does not seem to notice your approach.

Torath takes in the view and finally knows a little peace after these long days. Seeing the warrior standing at ease, he refuses to be the one to interrupt his rever.

[sblock=OOC] sorry for waiting to post didn't want to interrupt the chat with Teach either. [/sblock]

...Thorn, however, is much less considerate. She calls, "Corporal...that's you, right? Corporal Hedges? Captain said you had a word for us."

Hedge takes a beat, and you see his shoulders rise and sag in the mark of a heavy sigh. He turns to face you, and you indeed recognize him as one of the soldiers stationed in Castle Hood the night of your escape.

"Aye, I got promoted. Honestly, I was angry when you gave me that thrashing, but to have to report back to Cap'n Scultone in my underwear, well, that didn't make me feel too good. The Captain explained that you were working for the Guild, and gave me a promotion as consolation. So here I am. And yeh'd better not try to beat me up again. What is it you want?"

"This one apologises for shaming you the last time these two met." Squeal starts

"This one and its companions would like to know what that one knows about Thomas. This one hopes this information can stop further misunderstandings." The warforged finishes, rather sheepishly.

"If it helps any," Thorn adds, "You being in your underwear probably saved a lot of guards from similar beatings. I don't know if that means much to you, but it is true."
