Is it Str vs. Fort, and is it a standard action?

To escape a grapple, what type of action does it require (Minor, Move, or Standard)? And am I right in believing it is Acrobatics vs. Ref, or Athletics vs. Fort?

That seems to be the mechanics for a "grab". It may be possible for characters with a feat or power to do more.

Okay, then:

Is it a standard action to grab someone?

What kind of action (minor, move or standard) is it to escape a grab?

And is it a Str vs. Fort check to grab someone?

Is it an Acrobatics vs. Ref , or Athletics vs. Fort to escape a grab?

This is from the Quick Play Rules that was put together by someone in the Raiders of Oakhurst thread:

Grapple - You can attempt a grapple check with anything that is within 1 size
category of you. To initiate, you make a Strength Check vs. Reflex Defense. This
also doesn't provoke an Opportunity Attack. If you fail, nothing happens. If you
succeed, you cause your target to be "Immobilized" for one round. The target
can escape his immobilized condition using an Acrobatics or Athletics check.
You may move the target 1 square by succeeding on an additional grapple
check in the following round.

I can't guarantee the accuracy of this, but it looks good to me.

Thanks, but that still doesn't answer:

What type of action it is to initiate a grapple?

What type of action it is to escape a grapple?

Acrobatics or Athletics vs. what (Fort or Ref or other)?

1. Grapple is an attack, thus a standard action.
2. Good question it would appear a standard though.
3. Good question, my gut says it is a check against STR (10+STR mod)

I have definitely heard that to escape a grapple is either an Acrobatics vs. Ref check, or an Athletics vs. Fort check, but I'm not sure on what type of action it is, but I guess it sounds like a standard.

Someone on the WotC boards laid it down as: to escape a grapple is a Move action, and you may choose to make an Acrobatics check vs. Fort or Ref, or an Athletics check vs. Fort or Ref.

Is this correct?
