"Such magic is forbidden to my order," says Terrin in response to Corrah's question, "which seeks to heal the living and not to commune with the dead whose natural place is to depart and not to linger here, in this mortal realm.

"But perhaps Urgan or Lorent would dare to unlock this scroll's power," he adds, "in the furtherance of our noble cause."

Before they start catching their breaths, Aywin casts a spell that bolsters all.

OOC: Cast aid 2x before short rest. So every one in the party plus Svetlana (6 targets) has their hp max increased by 5 hp (they also get 5hp) for 8 hours- or 7h after short rest. I’m discovering aid is really cool on a warlock!

Hearing Merrick's words, Shamal realized that he would be better served helping move this along than genuflecting over his failure. He began searching the dead bandit at his feet for anything useful before hiking up to rejoin the others.

OOC:

Shamal searches the driver thoroughly, then joins the others at, assumedly, the main carriage location.

Team Ambush

The Driver had very little on his person, other than his 'holy' symbol, if one could call it that - it was a pendant of a dragon's skeletal claw, made of steel and brass, purposefully tarnished green. Shamal figured it would fetch around 25 gold for its artistry, or half that for its raw materials. Beside it, sharing its chain, was a small key.

Copper rifled through the wagon, and found (just where he suspected it would be) a lock-box under the driver's seat, where he also found a tin flask of spirits, and a healer's kit. It didn't take long to match the key to the lockbox. When opened (careful of traps, which it, perhaps surprisingly, lacked) it held about 60 gold worth of various coins and low-value gems.

Otherwise, the wagon was full of mostly food, and other basic living supplies. There were blankets, straw pillows (and one of duck feathers), cobbler's tools, two large kegs of salt beef, a large clay jar of pickled onions, eight sacks of wheat, three of turnips, two of beets. And a crate of cabbage and one of kale, already past its best of freshness. The most valuable items were probably the four bottles of Amnish spirits.

"You know, I expected a bunch of cultists and mercenaries to have more weapons in their shipment." Copper says as he looks over the goods. "And, judging by how thin these meals look, I take it they aren't marching around with a full belly either."

"That will make them grumpy, and sloppy."
The Goliath concludes. "Good targets for a quick scam...er, tactical deception. "

"Uh, anyway, who wants to dress up like a dead guy?" He smiles.

Merrick lumbers up to the caravan with a robe in his hands. He'd thrown the body off the road. He looks at the dead dwarf,

"That in't going to fit and this cultist outfit has a hole in it. I do mercenary work so I think I already look the part."

He put his hand through the bloody hole where his javelin had struck,

"Anyone know how to sew?"

Team Lake

When everyone had a moment to breathe, dry out, and make sure that no supplies had been broken or lost (and Loklafd had done very minor repairs to the two working kayaks), They set the boats back in the side-stream and reembarked, ready to face the water again, and the unknowns of the underground lake.

Svetlana had scouted ahead, but she had little to report beyond describing it as a long, twisting tunnel of rock flowing with swift-moving water. Fortunately, there didn't seem to be much in the way of obstacles, apart from sharp turns and a few steep slopes. The tunnel was worked smooth by the flow, leaving no sharp rocks to plague them.

OOC: It occurs to me that Loklafd and Darius both don't have darkvision, so we might want to swap teams if we want to go in dark. Otherwise they're going to need a light. When you're ready, give me a single check for the trip - either STR Athletics or DEX Acrobatics or an attack with a paddle will do.

Terrin AC:15* HP:20/24 HD:3/3 PP:13 SSdc13 4/4 2/2 CD:2/2 Slp:1/1

"I can fix it," Terrin says, taking a closer look at Merrick's robe as he gathers his javelins from the battlefield, "but not by sewing."

He retrieves two dark metallic stones from a pouch in his robes and passes them over the hole repeatedly while chanting arcane words for about a minute. When he is finished, the hole in the cloth has disappeared.

"The blood, however, will need to be washed out," he says, handing the robe back to Merrick good-naturedly.

Time allowing, Terrin repairs any other visible damage to the cultists' garments that are being used to disguise the party.

OOC: Terrin casts mending.

"Nice, thanks."

He offers the robe back to Terrin,

"I don't suppose you want to wear a cultist's robe?"

He looks at her holy symbol,

"Never mind." He looks to copper then the robe, "Hmmm....won't fit."

He contemplates putting it on himself. It's not like he wears armour but he's not much for words. Then he sees the noble huffing and puffing down the road,
"I can check the scroll, but I'm no priest. Maybe Sapphirrion might help? Are you ok? Will we take a breather while we check the cargo and look for documents?"
"Hey, I'm fine, thanks - 'Tis but a scratch

Merrick offers up the Cultist's cloak.

Here's a gift for your help, though. I think it will fit you best."

"We should take their clothes where they'll fit." Lorent is still looking at the group estimating who needs healing "Blood can be cleaned by magic, just as it can be repaired. The dwarf can take dwarven things, half-orc orc warrior things. And we take the tallest one to dress the goliath. Simple."
