Or you had Two-Weapon Fighting as your Fighting Style.Even then a Fighter was almost always going to be better off using their Action Surge for more Attacks.... unless you had a crowd of 1-hit-point-wonders around you.

at least fizbans made the adjustment that it only replaced a single attack rather than your whole attack action, that made it feel so much more able to slip into your action economy on alot of classes, and the ones that it didn't were the fullcasters who didn't get extra attack. To be fair, it was one use per short or long rest, which might end up being more uses than in 2024 based on how many short rests the party takes. The bigger problem with it was that it uses your whole action.
And yet dragonborn consistently held the number 4 spot on the “most popular race” surveys.
now imagine how well they'd be doing if they took that innate cool concept and added good design on top of it!Power doesn't equal popularity.
Newbies also don't know. They see breath weapon and resistance and think kewl. Damage is meh vs 5E hp scales poorly.
Resistance is situational.
Like signature traits for each kind of Dragonborn in order to make them into actual subspecies?now imagine how well they'd be doing if they took that innate cool concept and added good design on top of it!
eh, i was just aiming for a low bar of better scaling damage or bigger AoE and more consistent use of breath weapon/flight but yours is good too.Like signature traits for each kind of Dragonborn in order to make them into actual subspecies?
I just find it a bit odd that the Dragonborn species weren't given any legacies like the Elves and Tieflings in order to really distinguish them from each other. While their breath weapons and resistance sort of do that, you don't see any signature traits that could distinguish, say, a Gold, a Brass or a Red Dragonborn from each other. All of them have a fiery breath weapon and fire resistance, and that's just it. You have to look at some 3pp for those signature traits (Ex. Caliya's Chronicle of Runes).eh, i was just aiming for a low bar of better scaling damage and more consistent use of breath weapon/flight but yours is good too.
Agreed. I think I might rework Dragonborn heritage gifts to that effect, much like I did with my A5e version of draconians (each type is a different heritage gift).I just find it a bit odd that the Dragonborn species weren't given any legacies like the Elves and Tieflings in order to really distinguish them from each other.
